Actress Meghann Fahy has had a busy couple of years since The White Lotus in 2022. Most recently, she was nominated for an Emmy for her performance in Sirens alongside Milly Alcock. She’s now gearing up for the release of several upcoming projects, including film adaptations of BookTok favorites You Deserve Each Other and The Good Daughter. And with a packed schedule, there’s nothing more important than coffee.
Ahead of her project releases, Fahy is partnering with creamer brand Natural Bliss, which is releasing its own High Creamer & Coffee kits March 13 and March 20, to get the ideal coffee experience. We chatted with Fahy about her caffeine preferences, her love for breakfast, and the best meal she had in Italy while filming The White Lotus.
Spoon University: Your partnership with Natural Bliss is so exciting, and the lineup includes so many fun flavors. Set the scene for us in terms of your morning coffee routine: How do you take it, and how does Natural Bliss fit into it?
Meghann Fahy: I am a huge iced coffee drinker because I love that it starts cold and stays cold. I hate when my hot coffee gets cold. I have the creamer everyday. That’s part of why I wanted to be doing this partnership because it genuinely is so authentic to me. I’m such a fan of the brand. I’ve actually leaned away from other creamers before I found Natural Bliss. It only has four ingredients, which I feel like is kind of unheard of. And like you mentioned, they have so many different flavors that are incredible. My favorite go-to forever staple is vanilla, especially when it’s in iced coffee it tastes like vanilla ice cream, but not too sweet. You can really tailor it to your exact taste, which I love. There’s chai, which I did try, and now I’m alternating between vanilla and chai.
SU: You’re starring in an upcoming movie with Penn Badgley called You Deserve Each Other. If you had to describe Penn as a certain food or beverage, what would he be?
MF: Oh, man. He would definitely be tea as a beverage. Maybe green tea, because he’s very healthy and mindful and thoughtful about things, and I think he’s a tea man.
SU: Both You Deserve Each Other and your other upcoming project, The Good Daughter, are based on BookTok favorites. What’s been the biggest difference between working on projects adapted from novels compared to original creations like The White Lotus?
MF: You know, that’s a great question. I think working on something that has source material is always really fun because you have this kind of bible that you use to help you get into the character and into the world. And often, books have a lot more detail than their film or television adaptations do because there’s not enough time, so I always find that to be really interesting. But then, original stuff is equally and oppositely incredible in and of itself because you get to find it on your own and decide how you want it to be in terms of the character that you’re playing, and that can be a really fun journey too.
SU: Filming The White Lotus meant a ton of time spent in Sicily. What’s the best meal you had while you were there?
MF: Pasta alla norma probably is one of their signature pastas, and I love that. And again, just like the creamer, it’s very simple, only a few ingredients. And I do tend to gravitate towards things like that generally, but also they do capanata, which is like an appetizer that’s chopped up vegetables, and it’s so yummy.
SU: In Sirens, in which you star alongside Milly Alcock, your character has to lug around a truly obnoxious “hot garbage” edible arrangement she receives from her sister in the first episode. If you were to send your own “hot garbage” edible arrangement to someone, what would it be made of and why?
MF: Honestly, pizza and chicken fingers with lots of dipping sauces also attached to the bouquet.
SU: What’s the most unhinged late-night takeout order you’ve ever gotten?
MF: I once ordered, and this was a while ago — I’m really coming clean in this interview — like $70 worth of McDonald’s, and then looked for it outside, but couldn’t find it and realized the next morning that my boyfriend had brought it in and put it in the kitchen. And I just walked by it and so then ended up falling asleep and not eating any of it.
SU: What’s one meal that’s always going to help you find your bliss every single time, no matter what?
MF: I love breakfast. I’m a big breakfast girl. And I really look forward to waking up and making my coffee and then putting my breakfast together. I love the routine of first doing my coffee and then the rest of it.
SU: Do you have a go-to breakfast meal?
MF: I’m a huge breakfast burrito fan. There’s just really not a day that passes that I’m not in the mood for that.
SU: What are three food items or kitchen gadgets you can’t live without?
MF: Citrus squeezer, my Nutribullet blender, and I just recently got a vegetable chopper, which I’m obsessed with. It just makes salads and everything so easy.
SU: What’s your hottest food take?
MF: My hottest food take would probably be that cold pizza is good too.
SU: What’s your guilty pleasure meal or snack that you gatekeep from everyone because you know they wouldn’t understand?
MF: Ooooh, oh my gosh. Ok, I actually have a good, kind of gross one. Doritos with Heluva Good! Dip. It’s pretty gnarly, but very delicious.
SU: And do you do a Cool Ranch Dorito or a Nacho Cheese?
MF: I’m a classic Nacho Cheese girl.
