Kinder Eggs Are Finally Coming to US Stores This Month

The US is finally getting with the program! Kinder Joy, aka Kinder Eggs are coming to American store shelves, Ferrero U.S.A. announced yesterday.

If you're unfamiliar with Kinder Joy, it's a two part treat. The first part is candy, made up of "two soft cream layers – one sweet milk-cream flavored and one cocoa flavored." And then, "nestled into the creamy layers are two round, chocolate-covered wafer bites that are filled with sweet cocoa cream, to be eaten with the included spoon."

Uh, yum! But it gets better. The second half is a surprise toy for children ages 3+. The candy and the toy are two separately sealed halves, that basically make one egg.

Kinder Joy has already been a hit in 170 other countries worldwide, but due to FDA regulations that prohibited mixing food with non-food items, it took a little longer to get it in the US.

You'll be able to get your hands on these treats nationwide at mass grocery, drug, and convenience stores next month. But first, according to TODAY, they'll hit shelves at Walmart on Black Friday and will be sold there exclusively for 30 days, for $1.34 per egg.

So even if you have to fight your way through Black Friday crowds at Walmart to get your hands on one right away, it will be worth it. Probably. If you don't agree, no worries—give it some time and you'll be able to purchase one soon.
