I Wore Men’s Deodorant for a Week – Here’s What Happened

I don’t know about you, but sometimes, I run out of deodorant. When this happened to me, my local Walgreens had a deodorant stock consisting of mainly men’s deodorant while the women’s stock seemed to be nonexistent… then I ended up buying a twin pack of Old Spice Pure Sport High Endurance deodorant and am sharing my story as to what happened when I wore it for an entire week.

Day 1 – December 27th, 2016

On the first day of this experiment, I put on the deodorant at around 10:24 AM. Although I didn’t have much planned for the day, I still wanted to try it out to see how effective this was. Throughout the day, the scent wasn’t overbearing, but it was still holding up strong. By the end of the day, most of the scent had worn off, despite reapplying it twice. Overall, I’ve taken a liking to wearing this men’s deodorant and was looking forward to wearing it for the rest of the week.

Day 2 – December 28th, 2016

I’ve applied the deodorant around 11:09 AM – just a tad bit later than the first day. Unlike yesterday, I didn’t reapply the deodorant at all. By 10 PM, the scent of the deodorant had worn off, but I don’t feel disgusting.

Day 3 – December 29th, 2016

The deodorant was applied at 2 PM as a result of me being too lazy to get ready for the day.  I’ve spent the day not doing too much, but the scent of the deodorant didn’t stay on for as long as I would’ve liked it to. At least it kept me feeling clean.

Day 4 – December 30th, 2016

Deodorant was applied at 1:05 PM. Although my day consisted of going to lunch with my mom, bothering my cat, and relaxing, once again, the scent faded — but this time, it was rather quickly despite the minimal physical activities.

Day 5 – December 31st, 2016

It’ New Year’s Eve, and I’ve applied the deodorant at 1:51 PM. Despite only going outside once to go to the grocery store, the scent actually stuck around. Though it was December it was warm, which made me regret not putting on an extra layer of deodorant just in case anything happened.

Day 6 – January 1st, 2017

Deodorant was applied at 12:51 PM. Besides spending time with my family and my cat, I did end up going outside for a bit later on in the day for some fresh air. Although that wasn’t the smartest idea with my cold, I still went out anyway since nothing could stop me from doing so. The deodorant was just fine and didn’t appear to wear off at all. Maybe it was because I barely did anything — who knows?

Day 7 – January 2nd, 2017

Deodorant was applied at 1:36 pm. I have a cold, so I don’t plan on going outside today. I mainly spent the day relaxing inside with several boxes of tissues, but still put deodorant on just so I won’t feel disgusting. I wasn’t surprised that the deodorant stayed on all day long since I barely did anything with my life once again for the second day in a row.

The overall verdict: Wearing men’s deodorant for a week wasn’t as bad as I thought it was going to be. Nobody really knew (besides myself and the two people that I told) or could tell that I wore it, so that’s always a benefit if you don’t like bombarding people with how you smell.

Would I recommend switching to men’s deodorant from women’s deodorant?

It’s honestly all up to you. If you’re tired of overpaying for less product and for more feminine scents with women’s deodorant, then sure — go for it. The thing with men’s deodorant is that it keeps your pits feeling fresher for longer, so that’s always a good thing. Men’s deodorant is also much cheaper than women’s deodorant. At my local Walgreens, a twin pack of Old Spice Pure Sport High Endurance deodorant ended up costing $4.30. Later, when I went to go to my local Duane Reade to see if they had any women’s deodorant, a single stick of deodorant was $6.49. Crazy price difference, am I right?
