Listen, I am by no means the model child for healthy eating; I love me a good cookie. Recently, I finished off my 100th box of Oreos since I started college in the fall and that is when I looked at myself in the mirror and said, no more!

For me, Oreos are the equivalent of the boys I want, but know I can’t have. During my latest venture to Kroger, I hid my face in my hat as I walked right past the section of Oreos screaming my name from the inside of the shiny blue plastic wrap. It was easily the hardest thing I did all week.

It occurred to me that maybe it was time to make some changes in my diet as the infamous Spring Break 2k17 is fast approaching. Since I am obviously not interested in going on a diet, I decided that cutting calories left and right was my solution to a beach bod.

I found myself staring down the barrel of the gluten-free cookie section with not a clue in the world of what to get. Impulsively, I grabbed the first five boxes I saw and moved on. Why did I chose gluten-free cookies? I wanted to pretend that I was healthy, and become a part of the fad that seems to be taking over people's dieting lives.

As soon as I got back, my plans to go to the gym fell through as I found myself too anxious to try all my new desserts.

Enjoy Life Sugar Crisp Cookies

These cookies were miserable, I could barely finish chewing my two bites. The grains of sugar embedded throughout the cookie tasted like chemicals, not sugar. I do not recommend.

As I went to try my second cookie, I said a little prayer for my homies suffering from celiac disease who don’t get the privilege of eating a normal chocolate chip cookie. Once again, I was disappointed and I would not recommend these.

Simple Bites Ginger Snapz

Typically, the gingersnap flavor is not my go-to cookie option, but it wasn’t bad. These bite-size cookies were crunchy and flavorful. However, would I ever get them again? I'm not so sure about that.

Glutino Chocolate Chip

These cookies were not something I fell in love with at first bite, but I still find myself eating them days later. They remind me of Chips Ahoy, and are the perfect cookie to drunch (drunk eat, duh) on.

Tate’s Bake Shop Double Chocolate Chip

Let's end things on a good note with these amazing cookies. There is no New England bias here, but I give these cookies from New York a 10/10. They are already gone, as my friends and I have already plowed through the box.

I am by no means the Kourtney Kardashian of gluten-free, but I think this is a start. Maybe next time I go to Kroger I might even venture to the gluten-free bread isle…maybe.
