Step 1: Smash that garlic.

Place the garlic on a flat surface, and with the heel of your hand, give it a good smash.
Step 2: Scoop it into a bowl.

Wrangle up those loose cloves, put them into a bowl, then cover with another bowl.
Step 3: Shakey shakey.

Shake the bowls around for 30 seconds or so (don’t be afraid to get feisty).
