I feel like when I was growing up, there was very little variety in granola bars. There were three flavors of regular Chewy granola bars that were chocolate chip, s’mores, and oatmeal raisin, and then if you were lucky you got a Chewy Dipps bar that was covered in chocolate.
But granola bars were just that, bars of granola with maybe a few chocolate chips. Now, there are so many varieties of granola bars out there. I found what I think is the best match of a granola bar for your favorite type of candy bar.
1. Almond Joy — Kind Dark Chocolate Almond & Coconut Bar
With chocolate, almond, and coconut, this Kind bar has all the components of an Almond Joy. Plus, it tastes amazing. As one of my all-time favorite Kind bars, this definitely lives up to the Almond Joy status.
2. Butterfinger — Jif Bars Peanut Butter Chocolate Bar
Creamy peanut butter on the bottom, milk chocolate on top, and granola crunch in the middle. Perfectly mimics the taste of everyone’s favorite Butterfinger candy bar.
3. Chunky — Nature Valley Trail Mix Dark Chocolate & Nut
A Chunky candy bar is made of milk chocolate, peanuts, and raisins. This Nature Valley Trail Mix bar has all those same components and it’s delish.
4. Crunch — Quaker Quinoa Chocolate Nut Medley
Crunch was a hard one to find, since it is just chocolate and crisped rice. If there was a granola bar out there that had just chocolate and crisped rice, I’d probably own a thousand of them. However, Quaker makes granola bars with quinoa, which has a similar texture as crisped rice, and is coated with chocolate on the bottom.
5. Heath — Kellogg’s Nutrigrain Chocolatey Toffee Crunch
I’ve never really eaten a Heath bar actually. I hope that didn’t just bring a huge gasp out of your mouth. I feel like a lot of people are probably in that same boat though. I have eaten Heath topping on ice cream and in baked goods, though, and this granola bar is definitely your best bet.
6. Hershey’s Bar — Quaker Dipps Chocolate Chip Bar
A Hershey’s bar was the hardest one to find because a Hershey’s bar has only chocolate, whereas a granola bar must have, well, granola. So, I tried to think of the granola bar I’ve had with the most chocolate in it, and this is the one that came to mind. It’s covered in chocolate and has chocolate chips in the middle too.
7. Kit-Kat — Nature Valley Oats ‘n Dark Chocolate
This was the second hardest candy bar to find in a granola bar, because if a granola bar has both chocolate and wafer, it’s practically a candy bar. See what I mean? However, this bar came the closest to Kit-Kat because of it has loads of chocolate and is super crunchy.
8. M&M’s — Kudos M&M’s Bars
Okay, this is kind of cheating. It’s a granola bar with M&M’s in it, but it’s still really good and if your favorite candy is M&M’s, you are sure to love this granola bar.
9. Milky Way — Special K Protein Meal Bar Chocolate Caramel
This sounds like heaven on Earth. I love Special K bars, and this protein bar has caramel and chocolate, just like a milky way. Could you ask for anything more?
10. Pay Day — Nature Valley Salted Caramel Nut Protein Bars
These two bars actually look crazy similar. A payday is mostly just peanuts with caramel to hold it together, and that’s exactly what this Nature Valley bar is like, just with some other nuts in there and less sugar.
11. Reese’s Cup — Zone Perfect Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar
I had these bars all the time when I was growing up, they’re delicious. They’re hefty in size, unlike some granola bars where you feel like you’re being skimped, and they taste like real chocolate and real peanut butter, just like a Reese’s cup.
12. Snickers — Fiber One Protein Caramel Nut
I love any granola bar covered in chocolate. Plus, this one has caramel and peanuts on the inside, making it just perfect. Tastes a lot like a Snickers bar to me.
13. Twix – Quaker Chewy Dipps Caramel Nut
Once again, any granola bar covered in chocolate is automatically delicious. Plus, this one has caramel in the middle, making it the most like a Twix bar out of all the other granola bars I could find.
So pretty much no matter what your favorite candy bar is, somewhere out there is a very similar granola bar that you can eat for a “healthier” snack.
