How to Get Frat Boys to Bake You Cupcakes

Columbia’s Kappa Alpha Theta is hosting Cupcakes for CASA again, an annual philanthropy event offering every kind of cupcake, muffin, bar, and pie you could think of.

Here’s why you should be rolling through the Theta house and voting on your favorites this Thursday, November 12th at 6:30pm:

1. They channel all that fratty competition into a baking challenge across campus.

Nothing is better than putting the power of testosterone behind some spatulas. Pledges be warned: you may find yourselves relegated to the kitchen.

2. They provide supplemental fall-themed baked goods.

Some of the highlights this year: pecan pie muffins, a doctored (read: better) version of Libby’s pumpkin pie, cake balls, and flourless chocolate orange cake.

3. They ambiance the shit out of this event.

2 cute. Also, a great photo op (not to mention the actual photobooth).

4. They give out… Free. Stuff.

Anyone who goes to Cupcakes for Casa can enter the raffle to win things like Soul Cycle (because you were never actually going to pay $34 to exercise), a gift card to Friedman’s (that new bougie brunch spot off Amsterdam), a free (and probably needed) wax, and tons of other fun and useful prizes.

5. They’re baking to support an amazing organization.

CASA actually stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates, a group of trained mentors for foster children who work to provide children with safe and permanent homes.

So while you’re sampling 30 different cupcakes on Thursday, feel good knowing that the $5 you paid for your ticket is going to support CASA’s work. Buy yours on the Lerner ramps during the day this week and hit up the Facebook event with that RSVP!
