Frill is dedicated to bringing ice cream to those of us who can't or don't eat traditional ice cream. All of their products are vegan, gluten-free, and Kosher.

The "ice creams" are also nut-free, with the exception of one flavor which contains peanuts, hazelnuts, and macadamia nuts. Instead of a cream base, the products are made from water and natural thickeners. It comes in either 16-ounce pints or 3.5 oz single-serving containers. There is no added sugar, and each 3.5-4 oz serving has nine grams of fiber.

When a representative reached out with an offer to let me try this product, I couldn't resist. I need good dairy-free ice cream in my life, and the fact that Frill is also gluten-free makes it easier to share with friends. My favorite ice cream flavors are anything with chocolate or anything with fruit, and these flavors didn't disappoint.

Intense Chocolate

Arielle Gordon

The one thing about Frill products is that they don't melt very quickly. This can be frustrating if you need ice cream right this minute, but it works out well for serving large groups. You can leave the pint out while everyone makes their sundae, and the last person in line won't be left with soup.

Intense Chocolate is the perfect flavor to bring to a party because it isn't too sweet. Guests won't get a sugar rush after only two bites, and they can also load up on all the toppings for the perfectly balanced bowl.

With two grams of protein and 10 grams of natural sugar from fruits and vegetables (no added sugars), Intense Chocolate makes for the perfect treat because you can indulge without guilt. If you need ice cream the moment you get home, just pop the pint in the microwave for a few seconds and you'll be good to go!

Bursting Berries

Arielle Gordon

Bursting Berries is basically a smoothie in ice cream form. You get all the fun of a smoothie (including blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, pineapples, and bananas), without the hassle of turning on the blender. What better way to get your daily dose of fruit?

If you're looking to enjoy your "ice cream" as a part of a larger dessert, Frill offers several recipes  for foods you can make with their products, including one for Cookies and Frill, for you and your three closest friends.

Frill products are available at Whole Foods, Wegmans (on the East Coast), and Gelson's Market (on the West Coast), as well as a few other local organic retailers. There are currently four flavors available (Intense Chocolate and Bursting berries) along with Refreshing Green, and Nutty Caramel. Four more flavors, Turmeric Tropical, Piña Colada, Madagascan Vanilla, and Mint Spirulina, will be available soon.
