Prepping for finals week is one of the most stressful times on campus. Classes are full, libraries are packed and you spend your money on coffee rather than alcohol. Students are studying well into the night and the only way to get through it all is to load up on caffeine—preferably from Espresso Royale.

Everyone has their caffeine go-to, but you never really know how much caffeine you’re really getting. We talked to Espresso Royale baristas to find out which drinks maximize the caffeine content to get you through those endless hours of cramming.

Polar Cap

coffee, milk, tea, ice, chocolate
Julia Catalano

This drink is known for its high sugar content, but it’s also one of the most caffeinated drinks on the menu. It takes a full 16 shots of espresso to make one pitcher of this frozen coffee. A small drink averages about 3 shots, which is more than enough to get you through a late night study session.

Cold Brew

tea, cake, chocolate

Cold brew sounds like a fancier iced coffee but it packs a bigger punch than what you’re used to. One cold brew has 4 times the amount of caffeine than a regular iced coffee. At Espresso Royale, they steep the coffee beans for 24 hours before it is ready to sell. If you’re an iced coffee lover, cold brew is the new way to get your caffeine fix.

Coffee Beans

Hunter Honeg

This trick is not widely broadcasted, but Espresso Royale offers ground, unroasted coffee beans that act as a cleaner shot of espresso. You can add the beans to any drink of your choosing. Pump up your regular latte, tea or even smoothies to help you get ready to study.

Shot in the Dark

coffee, tea, espresso, chocolate
Julia Catalano

This is Espresso Royale’s version of Starbuck’s Red Eye. The Shot In the Dark is a regular cup of coffee with an added shot of espresso. We all know a normal cup of coffee just doesn't cut it when it’s midnight and your final is tomorrow. The extra shot will do you and your GPA a favor during your next all-nighter.

Shot of Espresso

coffee, espresso, cappuccino, tea, milk, mocha
Julia Catalano

During finals, students rely on different types of shots to get them through the week. Espresso shots become your new best friend. For only $1.70 more you can add an espresso shot to any of your favorite drinks. One of their regulars has been known to add up to 7 shots of espresso in one drink.

Black Tea

coffee, espresso, cappuccino, mocha, chocolate, hot chocolate, milk
Julia Catalano

If you’re not a huge coffee drinker but still need caffeine to help you through the hectic finals week, black tea is the way to go. It has a higher caffeine content than green tea, so it can help you stay up through the night.

No matter how big of a work load or how long you procrastinated, caffeine will help you make it to the end of the semester in one piece. Be sure to hit up one of the many Espresso Royale's on campus during the upcoming finals week.
