It's tough eating out when you have a dietary restriction. You have to scour the menu of a restaurant before going out to eat so that you know ahead of time what you can order. On Wednesday, Chipotle added a dietary tool to their website to help 11 types of eaters choose menu items based on their diet. The fast casual Mexican chain aims to be more inclusive to customers with dietary restrictions.

Chipotle had a bumpy 2016. What with its E. Coli outbreak and slump in sales, the brand is making huge strides to turn its image around. In doing so, its being more inclusive. The company has always been transparent with nutrition facts, thanks to its nutrition calculator, but now it wants to help customers with certain dietary restrictions order its food.

If your diet includes high-protein, low-calorie, low-fat, no added sugar, low-sodium, low-carb, dairy-free, gluten-free, paleo, vegan, or vegetarian—there is now an option for you at Chipotle. Wow, they are seriously catering to any type of customer.

After clicking on a diet that's suitable for you, it takes you to a page that lists ingredients into categories labeled: "go for it", "go easy", and "no go". This gives customers a stable guide on which ingredients to choose when building the perfect burrito.

This new, handy tool launched at the perfect time. It's the beginning of a new year and healthy resolutions are being embraced. I know that for me, going to Chipotle isn't high on my list for grabbing a healthy meal. But after using this tool, I was able to craft my perfect, high-protein burrito that I can enjoy because I know exactly what ingredients satisfy my diet.

“Many New Year’s resolutions involve a pledge to live a more active and healthy lifestyle,” said Chipotle Chief Marketing and Development Officer, Mark Crumpacker in a statement. “And our dietary options page can help you keep your New Year’s resolution this year. The tool makes it easy to customize your meal with fresh ingredients from our everyday menu so you can stay on track with your goals.

With the addition of this new tool, and adding chorizo to its menu, Chipotle is making moves to be more innovative with options and attract a larger customer base. So if you're craving Chipotle, but are unsure of what to eat based on your diet, give this tool a try. It's extremely helpful and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you can order.
