The Best Soup Recipes To Make This Fall

It’s soup season again (although I could have soup all year round). I love soup. It’s a perfect blend of ingredients — everything comes together so perfectly in a good soup. And, don’t get me started on broths! I could drink broth straight for a snack. The emergence of fall makes it a great excuse to try out all different types of soups. Here are five soup recipes that should be on your “need to make” list.

Creamy Chicken Soup

First, let’s start with this creamy chicken soup from TikTok user @yessidothecookingg — look at the end product, it’s so vibrant and colorful! I appreciate when soup-ers know what they are doing and start with their fragrant veggies. The recipe is super simple and cheap as well, with ingredients you might already have in your fridge or pantry. I think the addition of cheese at the end is a big win.

Butternut Squash Soup

Speaking of creamy soups, here’s a butternut squash soup that would be perfect and filling after a long day of looking for particularly crunchy leaves to step on. This soup is by @jennifervalentyne and is made of just a few ingredients like squash, maple syrup, and vegetable broth. I love the fall vibes of this one, from the ‘gourdishness’ of the whole thing, the warming spice, and the lovely orange color. It looks like it should be served in a pumpkin or something.

Tomato Soup

If there’s one thing I love, it’s tomato soup and grilled cheese. It’s filling, healthy, and sensitive on my poor little tummy. Shout out to my IBS besties. This tomato soup recipe by @haribeavus looks so simple and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside just thinking about homemade tomato soup. There are only four ingredients minus things like olive oil and seasonings, and the only special equipment you need is an immersion blender, but you can use a regular blender if you don’t have one.

Borscht

Next up is this borscht recipe by @ashxmaria. I’ve never had borscht before, but now I want to. This extremely red soup is a classic Western European dish made with beets as the main ingredient. That’s where the bright red color comes from. This soup looks filling and hearty, with its root vegetables and stewed beef. Along with being an interesting recipe, borscht is just a fun word to say.

Broccoli Cheddar Soup

Okay, don’t come for me. I’ve never had broccoli cheddar soup. I know it’s some people’s favorite, and this Panera-broccoli-cheddar-copy-cat TikTok by @mamainthekitchen made me gain some insight into why. The texture and colors of this soup look great and I can imagine all the flavors coming together perfectly. I’ve never really liked the idea of a cheese soup before, but my eyes have been opened.

I know this list has been dominated by creamy soups, but there’s a good reason for that. They are delicious. Creamy soups are in. Creamy soups are hot. I want some creamy soups. Creamy soups it’s going to be.

That marks the end of soups to try this fall. Will you be making them too?
