As someone who knows what it's like to live gluten-free, I also know the struggle of finding acceptable places to eat in a new city. Gluten-free restaurants in Dallas are easy to find once you know where to look. To get you started, try some of these tried and true places. This list includes breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner, and dessert so you can get a little taste of everything.

1. Company Café

Abby Helme

Not only does this place have one of the best brunch menus in Dallas, but the vast majority of it is gluten-free. The French toast bites are only second to the French toast stuffed with vanilla marscarpone and strawberries that they offer. And don't worry, there are plenty of egg options for those who want less sugar in the morning. Wash your meal down with one of their specialty coffees, a smoothie, or a mimosa with your choice of juice.

2. Dish Preston Hollow

Abby Helme

What's the best mix between earthy and sweet flavors? Pancakes! The gluten-free pancakes from Dish taste as good as the look (aka amazing). Covered in fruit and powered sugar with butter and syrup served on the side, it's a classic breakfast that anyone can enjoy. Although the menu doesn't note that the pancakes can be made without gluten, the kitchen is happy to accommodate your needs for brunch, lunch or dinner.

3. Sundown at Granada

Abby Helme

Imagine a place where you can order whatever you are craving and have the reassurance that it's gluten-free — that's Sundown at Granada. Most restaurants sneak bread crumbs into their meatballs or flour into their chili but not here! With options ranging from flatbreads to sandwiches and salads, there's something on the menu for everyone.

4. Royal Blue Grocery

Meat, cheese, olives, jam, almonds, AND gluten-free crackers! What an assortment. Everyone needs a little snack while they study—why not stop at Royal Blue Grocery and enjoy good eats and good music? The charcuterie board is served with some of the best gluten-free crackers and people who do eat gluten even request them. It's definitely worth the price. The real cherry on top is the amount of choices you have between multiple gluten-free desserts.

5. Villa-O

Abby Helme

Villa-O is the place to go when you're craving a good Italian-style pizza. Fair warning: they have the worst gluten-free noodles for their pasta substitution, but the pizza is divine. Whether you eat pizza for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it is always tasty.

6. Taverna

Abby Helme

Taverna is a gluten-free Italian lover's haven. Their variety of risottos are all naturally gluten-free, the pizza dough is amazing, and the pasta option is delectable too. Don't forget to try the dark chocolate mousse at the end of your meal for a real treat with peanut butter and raspberries swirled in and topped with homemade whipped cream.

No matter where you go for your next gluten-free meal or snack, you can't go wrong. Dallas is a big city with so many restaurants, cafés, and bakeries to try. I've found that most places offer so many more gluten-free options that the menu suggests, so it's always good to ask. Places like Bird Bakery and Pokey O's have gluten-free flavors of cupcakes and cookies, respectfully, on rotation— so go everyday to try every flavor!
