The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is officially back for its fourth season on Hulu. If you’re anything like me, you’ve been following the Mormon Wives since the show first dropped and have watched the drama unfold in real time. In case you aren’t an avid watcher of the show, TSLOMW follows nine women who live in Utah and have grown up, or are still currently, Mormon.
One of the most interesting parts of Mormon culture? They do not drink coffee. In order to get a fun drink fix, the wives indulge in another caffeinated beverage – dirty soda. The cast frequents the chain, Swig, a drive-through soda shop that sells the sodas we all love with different inclusions to spice them up. I have wanted to try Swig for so long, but it is primarily located in the Midwest. That leaves us East Coast residents left out of all the fun. Or so I thought, until I remembered another chain that could fulfill my cravings– Sonic.
How can you replicate the SLOMW’s favorite drinks at Sonic?
Sonic was originally known for their parking lot ordering system and their employees who delivered drinks on roller skates. But in recent years, the chain has taken on a new role as a place to try dirty sodas without having to drive across the country to Swig. You can customize your order to replicate The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives cast’s favorites, or test out your own concoction.
Jen Affleck’s order is a Diet Dr. Pepper with coconut cream and vanilla cream. While Sonic doesn’t offer different flavors of creamer, you can order a Diet Dr. Pepper and add sweet cream, vanilla flavoring, and coconut syrup to get as close to Jen’s order as possible. Dr. Pepper fans can also replicate Taylor Franke Paul’s order by getting a regular Dr. Pepper with the same inclusions as Jen’s order, this time just adding a lime.
Not a Dr. Pepper fan? Try Mikayla’s order of Diet Coke with a lime and coconut syrup. Or go Mayci’s route and order a Diet Coke with a lemon and a lime.
Layla and Miranda switch things up by swapping soda for a water base. You can order their favorite by getting water with strawberries, vanilla flavoring, coconut syrup, and sweet cream.
Looking to find your own favorite dirty soda? I highly recommend Sonic’s Ocean Water, which is Sprite with blue coconut flavoring. You can also stick to a classic Cherry Limeade that includes Sprite, cherry flavoring, cherries, and a lime.
