There’s very little doubt that fall is the greatest season of all. When else are the leaves so colorful, the air so crisp, and the apples so ripe? Perhaps greatest of all is the fall-related food products that the changing temperatures bring. As much as I love my PSLs, it’s easy to get caught up in a pumpkin spice rut. As even The New York Times has observed, the flavor has raged unprecedented hegemony upon the American palate. Yet there are far more flavors to fall than just the stereotypical gourd, which is why I was super excited to try Noosa’s delicious fall yogurt flavors. Here are all of Noosa’s fall yogurt flavors, ranked from good to best.
6. Pumpkin
Don’t get me wrong, last on the list doesn’t necessarily mean it’s bad — I still really enjoy this flavor. The profile is rather similar to a pumpkin ice cream: sweet, with a lot of pumpkin and not a lot of spice. Unfortunately, for this yogurt, it’s a bad time to be pumpkin-flavored. With pumpkin spice everywhere we turn, you have to be exceptional to really stand out.
5. Salted Caramel
The Salted Caramel is quite good. The yogurt itself is lightly flavored with a caramel swirl. Sometimes salted caramel-flavored foods taste artificial, but the flavor of this yogurt is nuanced and authentic. The only reason I’m choosing not to rank it higher is because to me, yogurt is a breakfast food, and while the Salted Caramel is delicious, its a bit too rich and sweet to be chowing down before 10 am.
4. Honey Peanut Pretzel
The Peanut Honey Pretzel is one of the yogurts that comes with a fun topping—this one, as one could guess from the name, comes with a container of peanuts and pretzels to mix in. The flavor of the base is sweet, like a classic vanilla. The toppings are fun (I would buy a separate bag of the honey peanuts just to munch on if I could), but it does feel a bit strange to be eating pretzels mixed in yogurt.
3. Apple
Sometimes when the dining hall has apple cobbler and I’m feeling like being healthy, but not so healthy I actually sip dessert, I’ll mix the cobbler with some greek yogurt. That is pretty much what the apple yogurt tastes like— spiced apple pie filling in a creamy yogurt base. It isn’t too sweet, though, and felt just enough like eating pie for breakfast to make my morning a little bit brighter.
2. Coconut Almond Chocolate
Exactly what it sounds like, this yogurt comes with a container of toasted coconut flakes, dark chocolate chips, and almonds. The textures work great together and add a nice crunch to the yogurt, and the flavors mix perfectly. If you close your eyes, you just might think you are eating on a beach in Hawaii. The flavors complement each other wonderfully and the overall taste was not too sweet.
1. Maple Ginger
This yogurt was positively feisty. The maple granola comes studded with chunks of candied ginger. The granola is flavored nicely with maple and adds a satisfying crunch, but the true star of the show is the ginger chunks. Every few spoonfuls, you get a bite of the ginger, which is strong to the point of almost seeming spicy. I loved this, and felt significantly more awake after starting my morning with this yogurt.
