The week before Valentine’s Day is upon us. Whether you’ve spent your money on a gift for that special someone or just want a stranger to pay for your meal as an act of chivalry (or bribery),  we could all use some free food.

What to Expect: Try a cup of THRIVE coffee for free in your favorite chicken spot. You don’t even have to purchase anything else.

Charles Darwin Birthday Party

When: Monday, February 9 | 2:00-4:00 pm
Location: McClung Museum
What to Expect: Hang out with Monty the Dinosaur, Darwin and Wallace while you nom on birthday cake and other snacks.

Coffee and Conversation with Mayor Rogero

When: Tuesday, February 10 | 5:00 pm
Location: UC Ballroom
What to Expect: Drink some coffee, and talk to Mayor Rogero about any concerns you have.

Oxfam UTK does Valentine’s Day

When: Wednesday February 11 and Thursday, February 12 | 11:00 am-2:00 pm
Location: Pedestrian Walkway
What to Expect: Not quite free, but grab a sweet treat and donate to Oxfam to help rural farmers put food on the table.

Valentine’s Day Hot Chocolate Giveaway

When: Wednesday February 11 | 12:30-2:00 pm
Location: Pedestrian Walkway
What to Expect: Grab some free vegan hot chocolate and anti-dairy literature.

International Coffeehouse

When: Wednesday, February 11 | 2:00-4:00 pm
Location: Mary E. Greer Room of Hodges Library
What to Expect: Meet some new people while you enjoy a Saudi Arabian snack and hot drink.

O Taste and See: Love Poetry and Dark Chocolate

What to Expect: Get ready for Valentine’s Day with some love poems and dark chocolate.

CIE Spring 2015 International Trivia Night

Location: International House
What to Expect: Test your trivia game at an international level and enjoy some free pizza.

Darwin Day Cake Contest and Alan de Queiroz

When: Thursday, February 12 | 6:30-8:00 pm
Location: UC Auditorium
What to Expect: From 6:30-7:00 compete in a biogeography themed cake competition. Then, feast on the winning cakes during a lecture by Alan de Queiroz.
