8 Bison Hacks You Need To Try ASAP

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Bucknell chapter.

Although I know you’re quite fond of the food options here at Bucknell, I also know you sometimes feel like things are becoming a little old as the semester continues, right? Here are 8 hacks that can help bring a little life back into your Bison experience.

1. M&M’S Pancakes

Chocolate chip pancakes are obviously a classic so to take your pancakes to another level grab some M&M’s from the froyo bar and ask for M&M’s pancakes instead.

 2. Sesame Noodles

This may seem crazy… But I can promise you these sesame noods are Spoon certified. Head to Bada Basil and ask for spaghetti, scallions and onions. Maybe add some tofu, pees, broccoli or whatever else your heart desires. For sauce, just add garlic and oil.

Buy 2 peanut butters, ask for a dash of soy sauce from the stir fry station and microwave for 2 minutes. Mix it up and you’ve got yourself an brand new way to chow down.

3. Nachos

It’s kind of underrated that there aren’t nachos in the Bison… It’s the perfect meal to share (or scarf down by yourself). Ask for a paper plate with chips and cheese and add whatever other toppings you want (peppers, onions, chicken… you do you).

Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds and enjoy with the complimentary sides of sour cream and salsa.

4. Omelet Wrap

Omelets in the Bison are already pretty well wrapped up on their own, so why not make it into an actual wrap? Ask for a side of a tortilla instead of toast and roll up your omelet any style you prefer.

5. Greek Salad

I know many Bucknellians miss their gourmet chopped salads, but since the addition of the chopping station, the salad game is top notch. For a Greek salad, add lettuce, olives, red onion, chickpeas, tomato and cucumber. Bring the salad over to be chopped and ask for oil and vinegar for dressing.

Purchase some pita from the fridge and ask for a side of feta from the quinoa station. Sprinkle the feta on top of your creation…You’re now one step closer to that Chop’t salad you dream about on a daily basis.

6. Avocado Toast

‘Cado toast has officially arrived on campus. Ask for an egg and toast from the grill station and some avocado from the deli area. Pile it all together and garnish with some chili flakes from the daily dish station. Basic never tasted so good.

7. Protein Powered Bada Basil

I typically upgrade my Bada Basil by adding the grilled salmon that comes individually packaged in the refrigerated area, but any additional protein or vegetable you like can become part of your daily Bada routine.

8. Cottage Cheese Parfait

Cottage cheese is definitely one of those things you either hate or love. If you happen to love it, making a cottage cheese parfait could fit nicely into your breakfast endeavors. Just get some cottage cheese from the salad bar, add whatever fruit there is and drizzle honey on top, which can be found in the beverage area.

Welp… there ya have it. Even when all hope seems lost, there’s always another option to ensure you’re getting your grub on at the Bison.
