Mornings are such a pain, yet breakfast is still the most important meal of the day. So to help your day start off smoother and to prevent any sleep-deprived accidents, reward yourself with some extra sleeping time with these easy breakfast ideas.

1. Thermos Oatmeal

If you’re not a morning person, this ready-to-go breakfast will change your life. It’s quick, nutritious, and accommodates any taste buds. All you need is a thermos and instant oatmeal. Change it up by adding maple syrup, bacon, fruit, chia and/or flax seeds for an extra boost.

My favourite thermos oatmeal is with apples, raisins, chia seeds and just a bit of bacon for that sweet and savoury balance.

2. Egg in Avocado

Crack the egg right in the hole of the avocado and pop it in the microwave for 5 minutes. For even more awesomeness, add sriracha and green onions. You could also go with a classic favourite, the mighty bacon.

3. Mugcakes

This revolutionary recipe combines the best of both worlds—breakfast and dessert. For those sugar-a-holics, you can’t go wrong with this one. For a rich and decadent mugcake, avoid flour and baking powder. For a light and velvety texture, add an egg or even sparkling water.

You should also try the Oreo cheesecake mugcake, or get even more creative with these mug recipes.

4. 2-Ingredient Pancakes

If you’re in a time crunch, simply grease a plate with butter, pour pancake batter on and microwave for 2 minutes. And there you have it, the “king of breakfasts” or just a healthy midnight snack.

You can also jazz up your regular pancakes with these tricks. But why stop there? You can also make pancakes on the go, or even better… pancake pizza.

5. Microwave French Toast

Transform boring toast into an amazing treat that’s worth getting up in the morning for. Mix an egg and milk in a mug, then dunk slices of toasts in the batter and microwave to perfection. In under 2 minutes, you’ll have french toast ready to go.

I like to top mine off  with cinnamon and sugar, but you can also try maple syrup, chocolate sauce, or even coffee powder and sugar.

6. Breakfast Pizza

If you’re thinking about throwing away those leftover pizza slices, stop immediately. Take your leftover pizza and all its glory to create the ultimate breakfast dream by reheating it and topping it off with scrambled eggs.

Extra hint, sprinkle generous amounts of cheese to hold everything together. This is so versatile, since you can put anything on your pizza. It is also a great way to finish any additional leftover meat or vegetables.

7. Bagel Sliders

Bagels just got more epic. Instead of the regular cream cheese and jam, pack your next bagel with flavours, such as hummus, smoked salmon, spinach, baby tomatoes, or crumbled feta. This ingenious idea will elevate your bagel to gourmet status in less than 3 minutes.

Enjoy those jealous stares as you walk around the campus ready to go with your gourmet bagel in hand.
