You’re regretting your decision from the moment you enter Marist’s dining hall. You could order P-Ridge for the fifth night in the row, but because of your empty bank account and upcoming spring break body, you have no other choice than to consume the sub-par Sodexo choices. Your stomach and toilet will thank you later.

Luckily, the Marist Sodexo dining hall doesn’t have to be a penitentiary. You’re not Piper Chapman, and certainly not Tim Bundy, so why treat yourself like a first degree murderer?  Among the mystery meats lies a variety of options that will actually satisfy your taste buds. In fact, you may even go for seconds.

So, as stated by Parks & Recreations superstar Tom Haverford, it’s time to treat yourself the right way. With these ten options, you’ll never feel like a prisoner at Marist again.

1. Bacon: Our American Sweetheart

What better way to wake up for an 8 am than with a plate of crispy bacon? As a flavorful and universally adored option, Sodexo bacon is not only delicious, but also packed with protein to keep you full and energized throughout a stressful day. For the breakfast lovers out there: this meal is a 10/10.

2. Anything Potato

Remember this as law: it’s impossible to go wrong with anything potato. For all of Sodexo’s mishaps, the potato and its relatives stand out for A+ greatness. Marist students, make sure to never give up these potatoes for lent.

3. Pasta & its Versatility

Pasta is unarguably the Holy Grail of carbs and, with its adaptable qualities, it goes with just about everything. Along with its great taste, Sodexo pasta can be turned into a salad with veggies, the ultimate Sunday dinner with meatballs, or a “Plain Jane” with a few spices and chicken. Yum, or what I should say: Delizioso.

4. Stir Fry is Your Friend

You’re beyond starving and ravenous, but your roomie is too cheap to order take out. Fear not, my hungry Marist friend—Sodexo stir fry will save your appetite. This colorful, flavorful, and diversified meal will make you feel stuffed in the best way possible. Well done, Sodexo.

5. French Toast

Why go home, when you can bring home with you? From the moment you inhale the french toast aroma, you’ll instantly be transported to your mom’s kitchen—and even better than its smell is obviously its cinnamon taste. With this treat, you’ll never forget where you came from.

6. Pepperoni Pizza & Garlic Bread that New Yorkers approve

We reside in the grand mecca of everything pizza, yet finding a cheap version can be difficult. Fortunately for us, delicious pizza is waiting to be served in the Dining Hall.

If you’re craving thick crust and consistency, then you’ll have a love affair with Sodexo’s free Pepperoni pizza with garlic bread on the side, of course. Sodexo’s pepperoni pizza makes paying Marist College’s $40K+ tuition worth it.

7. The Practical Deli

This is for my dieters who still refuse to torture themselves with the devil that is salad. The Sodexo deli offers great tasting meals for the ambitious health-kickers, and even for the junk food admirers. With a wide variety of breads, toppings, and dressing, the deli station allows students to take the “sky is the limit” approach in constructing the perfect sandwich.
