You’ve liked our memes on Insta, scrolled past our posts on Facebook, and stopped by our table at the Get WOW’d event.

Basically, you’ve been bombarded with Spoon stuff for the past couple of weeks (#sorrynotsorry). However, you might still be a little hesitant to join. And that’s okay! But lemme tell ya a secret: getting involved in an organization you care about can transform your college experience. We’re talkin’ total gamechanger. So why not join a group where you can meet awesome people AND get to talk about (and eat!) food?

Still not sold on Spoon? Here are 6 reasons why you should join.

1. We’re excited about food.

Hello, Captain Obvious. If you didn’t catch on yet, we here at Spoon care a lot about food. You know those people that are always taking pics of their meals at restaurants? Yeah, that’s us. Food is no doubt delicious, but it’s also an incredible medium that can get people talking about real issues. So while we do feature our fair share of recipes and #foodporn, we also write thought-provoking pieces on topics like GMOs and how gender stereotypes affect what we eat.

2. We’re relatively new on campus.

We’re really just gettin’ started at FAU, so this is your chance to be a part of something and see it grow from the ground up. And since we don’t have a bazillion members yet, your voice will be heard and your opinion won’t get lost in the crowd.

3. We offer amazing opportunities.

If you’re interested in having your work seen by tons of people around the world, Spoon is the place to be. We have partnerships with some HUGE names in online media, such as BuzzFeed, The Huffington Post, and Yahoo! Food, which means that your work can be featured on their websites. Not too shabby, eh?

4. Our founders are some seriously badass chicks.

Meet Mackenzie and Sarah. They founded Spoon in 2012 as undergrads at Northwestern University and now work at SpoonHQ as CEO and CTO, respectively. These women are pretty damn awesome and work tirelessly to make Spoon even more fantastic. Oh, and they don’t take sexist shit from nobody #girlpower.

5. We’ve got something for everyone.

So maybe you’re not the world’s greatest writer. No prob. Though we call ourselves an online food publication, we do so much more than just write recipe posts. If you have any interest in photography, videography, marketing, PR, or event planning, then we have a place for you on our team!

5. We’re more fun than the History Club.

No offense, history buffs, but we’re way cooler. I mean, I’ll take free food over watching old Revolutionary War documentaries any day of the week.
