5 Foods That Have Taken the Pumpkin Trend Too Far

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Colgate chapter.

As the leaves start turning, the temperatures start dropping, and wardrobes begin changing, the first signs of fall are upon us. And with all these changes, comes the inevitable trade mark of fall cuisine: pumpkin.

Face it, no matter how #basic pumpkin may be, we’re all still guilty of loving it and we’re all still going to do everything we can to consume as many pumpkin flavored items as we possibly can this fall. I personally am a huge fan of anything and everything that is pumpkin or pumpkin spice. Sometimes, though, the pumpkin food trend can get a little out there. Behold, five foods that have definitely taken this pumpkin thing WAY too far.

1. Pumpkin Spice Hummus

Okay now there is simply nothing appetizing about dipping your crunchy carrots into this. Not to mention that the color is already so unappealing. For more interesting hummus recipes that seem much more tempting click here

2. Pumpkin Spice Spreadable Cheese

The sight of this in Price Chopper made me a little nauseous as I thought about if anyone has ever actually purchased this item. Just imagine putting this out, with crackers, as an hors d’oeuvre at your dinner party.

3. Pumpkin Spice English Muffins

Personally, one of my favorite things to put on English muffins are eggs. Eggs and pumpkin spice don’t seem to go together very well. While, Pumpkin Spice Lattes are delicious in the morning, I don’t think eating pumpkin spice has the same effect.

4. Pumpkin Spice Triscuits

No one wants to snack on cheese on top of a pumpkin spice Triscuit. As a cheese lover, I believe that it is truly a waste of the delectable cheese you’re consuming.

5. Pumpkin Tortilla Chips

As if we hadn’t already seen enough. While this isn’t exactly pumpkin spice flavored it still follows the theme of pumpkin ruining good foods. Pumpkin tortilla chips and fresh guacamole just don’t seem to mix. Enough is enough already!
