We’re two months into fall semester and our meal plans are starting to feel a bit recycled. The time has come again for another round of dining hall hacks to show you the tastiest ways to maneuver your way through NYU’s cafeterias. Downstein’s stations may offer some solid home cooking, but this guide will open a whole new realm of possibilities that will have you rethinking that lonely burger you had just last week.

Porchetta Sandwich

Ingredients:
1 ciabatta bread roll
2 slices of roasted pork loin
Roasted bell peppers
Sliced tomatoes
Onions
Leafy greens
Crushed red chili flakes
Honey mustard
Pepper jack cheese

Directions:
1. Obtain slices of roasted pork loin from the home station.
2. Kindly ask the worker if  he or she can put the pork loin in your sandwich.
3. Include roasted bell peppers, tomatoes, onions, leafy greens, honey mustard and pepper jack in the sandwich.
4. Request for the sandwich to be toasted.
5. Open your sandwich and sprinkle crushed red chili flakes located next to the pasta station.
6. Devour and enjoy!

Crispy Creamy ‘Shroom Dog’

Ingredients:

1 hot dog bun
1 hot dog
Sliced mushrooms
Diced bell peppers
Diced onions
Chips
Ranch dressing

Directions:
1. Order a plain hot dog at the grill station.
2. Order stir-fried mushrooms, bell peppers and onions at the veggie grill.
3. Get chips from the deli and crush them into smaller pieces.
4. Assemble the hot dog with grilled vegetables and chips on top.
5. Drizzle ranch dressing on top of the hot dog.

Pasta Primavera

Ingredients:

Plain pasta noodles
Shredded cheese
Parmesan cheese
Crushed red chili flakes
Cherry tomatoes
Peas

Directions:
1. Pile shredded cheese from the salad bar to the bottom of the bowl.
2. Place noodles on top of the cheese.
3. Sprinkle generous amounts of Parmesan and chili flakes on top of the pasta.
4. Halve the cherry tomatoes.
5. Add tomatoes and peas to the pasta.
6. Sprinkle salt and pepper to galvanize the taste.

Oozy Raspberry Chocolate Waffles

Ingredients:
Waffle batter
Chocolate sauce
Raspberry jam

Directions:
1. Gather a bowl with two large spoon fulls of raspberry jam.
2. Fill a pixie cup full of waffle batter.
2. Add chocolate syrup into batter and stir (gently if you want a marbled effect).
3. Add globs of raspberry on top of each waffle quarter.
4. IMPORTANT: Generously spray waffle maker.
5. Pour batter into the waffle maker, close the batter and let it work its magic.
6. Open the batter when the beeper sounds and use a fork to pull the waffle out.
7. Enjoy!
***Note: If deciding to use jam, this recipe may create a mess at the waffle station—but don’t let that deter you! Feel free to make it your own!

Yogurt Parfait

Ingredients:

Granola
Peaches
Blueberries
Yogurt

Directions:
1. Layer fruit, yogurt, and granola until the cup is filled.
2. Enjoy!
