On my Snap Story this past weekend: “Fall Fest is lit.”

Without a doubt, other students milling around posted similar things. Why? Well, there was:

The Weather

A gorgeous breeze drifting by in cloudless sky at a human 77ºF. No conditions could have been better for walking around with friends and sampling the countless offerings of food. It was just a beautiful thing, spending time outside.  Why can’t every day be like this? (For real though, I’m a SoCal girl and I need sun.)

The Aesthetic

White canopies set up out on Old Campus, Harkness Tower keeping watch, the Jamaican music duo banging out covers of “Happy” and more calypso-laden songs. For real, this school gives everyone more and more to love every day.

THE FOOD

I did what the sign told me to do. So did everyone else there. Chicken tikka masala, dalmooth, Moroccan vegetable tangine with couscous and my personal favorite—fresh fruit. I got all these weird looks as I was hauling apples and a plate of baked goods from the Italian booth back to my dorm. But hey, I know I’m not the only one (ay, Sam Smith).

I’ve been craving some solid Mexican food since school started, and I got it today. A wonderful little pork barbacoa taco with fresh salsa and sour cream. Too real. Too cute.

And aren’t these beans absolutely gorgeous?

Life: made.

The People

Honestly, what made me really happy was seeing all my friends enjoy the food. Watching them obsess over the Italian ice, making super-studious friends come outside, dancing around, going searching for starfruit (mission accomplished).

The only thing missing? “I wish they had a petting zoo,” said one forlorn freshman. Poor freshman. Now I wonder, is there a zoo around here?

(Note: if you Google “petting zoo”, here’s what comes up)

Ezra Stiles: petting zoo?

So Fall Fest = just another step in “college-ing” (otherwise known as living the college life. I made that up myself ^.^).

We’re all college-ing here, and here’s a simple truth: The more food, the better.
