11 Drool-Worthy Pokémon-Inspired Bentos You’ll Wish You Had

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at UC Berkeley chapter.

From watching the television series to playing many different versions of the games, Pokémon has undoubtedly been a huge part of my life. The difficulty of choosing a starter Pokémon, the inability to get anywhere in tall grass without repel, and the patience needed to level up are all aspects of the game I love — fond memories that transport me to a world where my only goal is to catch them all.

In honor of celebrating the popular franchise’s 20th anniversary (thank you, Satoshi Tajiri) and yet another game being released in the fall, Pokémon Sun and Moon, we present 11 colorful and delicious Pokémon-inspired bentos to get you excited.

1. Pikachu

Pikachu is one of the most recognizable faces of the Pokémon franchise. The character’s charming nature easily makes it an excellent choice for a mascot.

2. Jigglypuff

Although it may look harmless, beware of the singing unless you want to wake up with a face full of marker scribbles.

3. Pichu

Pichu is basically the miniature version of Pikachu, but we love it all the same because of its electric personality and adorable looks.

4. Koffing

Although Koffing is filled with toxic gases, this bento is exactly the opposite. It’ll leave you feeling refreshed and healthier than ever before.

5. Meowth

Whether or not you liked Meowth, you have to admit that he was the smartest character in Team Rocket. Plus, he could talk!

Although it may look the most intimidating out of the three legendary birds, this Zapdos won’t give you an electric shock.

9. Snorlax

Snorlax perfectly describes me in college — a lazy bum who only cares about eating and sleeping.

10. Various Pokémon

We just couldn’t end a Pokémon post without seeing Pikachu’s face again, this time in the form of a char siu bao.

Besides drooling at these delicious Pokémon bentos, try and make one yourself in honor of the new game coming out! Or just replay all of your old games — that works too.
