You may find yourself at-war with your brain, mentally deciding between whether to indulge in your favorite Ben & Jerry’s flavor or stick with your fruits and veggies. Anyone smart would want to take the healthier route, and that is most certainly applauded, but sometimes the heart wants what it wants. And sometimes, the heart wants ice cream.

So here are ten occasions when you should take your eye off the nutrition label and dive on in:

1. Finals week.

That should be explanatory enough. You’re stressed, you’re studying, and you’re curled into the fetal position on the couch by the end of it. You owe it to yourself, champ. Grab that carton of Chocolate Therapy and go to town. You deserve it, nerd.

2. A break-up.

Also explanatory. If he or she ain’t treatin’ you right, treat yo self. Because in the end, you’re doing you, and you’re doing it in the best way possible: ice cream.

3. Dessert time.

4. When you’ve had a long day.

Come on in, take a bubble bath or a really long shower, put on those fuzzy slippers and relaaaaax. Every spoonful full of cookie dough ice cream is one less worry on your shoulders.

What better way to celebrate a fantastic day then with a fantastic carton of Ben & Jerry’s Red Velvet Cake or even better, S’Mores? It’s like camping, but you don’t actually have to go outside.

6. Binge-watching Netflix.

I mean, you’re still getting exercise in. It takes some movement to get the spoon to your mouth. And whether it is a big bowl and a marathon of F.R.I.E.N.D.S or straight from the container during a sappy rom-com, your level of comfort will be at astronomical heights. Your brain will literally say “aaaahhhhh.”

7. When you’ve eaten healthy all day.

That takes some serious work and determination. Reward yourself with a scoop. (It won’t kill you, I promise.)

8. When you’re bored.

9. On a date.
