Here’s where I come in. We taste tested all the blueberry yogurts that Whole Foods has to offer and ranked them so you don’t have to spend hours in the grocery store.

Each yogurt was sampled in a blind taste test by myself, my brother Grant, his friend Tucker, and my parents. Oh, and my mom recorded the taste test so we had the gut reactions on tape. Thanks, Mom.

The 1st place votes counted as 8 points, 2nd place counted as 7 points, and so on with the 8th place vote only counting as 1 point. The total points received by each yogurt were tallied up to reveal the official ranking below (from worst to best) based on taste, texture and quality.

8. Maple Hill Creamery

From the get-go, this yogurt was extremely unappealing. The cream top layer looked spoiled and brown while the yogurt underneath was watery and flavorless. After mixing the layers, the yogurt was tangy, tart and lemony. While the packaging does indicate “tart and tangy,” those notes were overpowering.

#7 lead up

*The yogurt expiration date was checked before tasting, as it just didn’t look right. The expiration date was a month and a half in the future, so it should be good unless it was improperly handled during shipping. I’d like to give the company the benefit of the doubt and maybe try it again after my taste buds heal.

what is this!

“Very tart and tangy, and extremely nasty.” –Hannah

  • Nutrition: 140 calories/170 grams, 6 grams protein, 14 grams sugar (2.8 teaspoons)
  • Price: $2.69

7. Stonyfield Greek

The consistency of the blueberry sauce was similar to the Brown Cow yogurt. However, this yogurt had a strange after taste of cheddar and bleu cheese.

“It should be called bleuberry yogurt.” –Lynn

  • Nutrition: 120 calories/150 grams, 12 grams protein, 15 grams sugar (3 teaspoons)
  • Price: $1.50

6. Noosa Blueberry

It tasted more like a sweet sour cream than it did yogurt. The sauce itself contained many tiny blueberries and was very sweet. It reminded me of the drinkable Danimals yogurts I had when I was younger.

#5

“Buttery and smooth.” –Justin

  • Nutrition: 280 calories/227 grams, 14 grams protein, 28 grams sugar (5.6 teaspoons)
  • Price: $2.49

5. Fage Total 0%

The Fage yogurt was not tart at all, but after tasting it my mouth felt like it was coated with a film. The blueberry sauce, filled with blueberries, is in a separate compartment and was not overly sweet. But it did have a strange after taste when tasted separately.

“More blackberry-ish, not too shabby.” –Grant

  • Nutrition: 120 calories/150 grams, 13 grams protein, 16 grams sugar (3.2 teaspoons)
  • Price: $1.69

4. Siggi’s 0% Icelandic Style Skyr

This yogurt tasted like sour cream. It was thick, creamy and not overly sweet. The blueberries were mixed in and didn’t provide much flavor or texture to the yogurt.

#4

“The yogurt had no blueberries and was sour and bitter.” –Grant

  • Nutrition: 110 calories/150 grams, 14 grams protein, 11 grams sugar (2.2 teaspoons)
  • Price: $1.99

3. Oh My Yog!

This yogurt had three layers: Quebec blueberries on the bottom, whole milk yogurt with a bit of honey in the middle, and a layer of sweet cream on top. The yogurt on the inside had a texture similar to plain yogurt, while the top was thick and creamy. Surprisingly, the sauce was not as sweet as the sugar content made it seem, and it did contain fresh blueberries.

#3

“Artificial blueberry flavoring similar to a blueberry muffin.” –Grant

  • Nutrition: 170 calories/170 grams, 7 grams protein, 22 grams sugar (4.4 teaspoons)
  • Price: $1.25

2. Brown Cow Greek

Initially, the blueberries on the bottom had an unappealing gelatinous appearance and the blueberry sauce looked like it was partially mixed in but was mostly concentrated on the bottom of the container. The sauce wasn’t too sweet and had real blueberries which added great texture. It was tart, creamy and thick, like real Greek yogurt.

“Some chunks, but good.” –Grant

  • Nutrition: 120 calories/150 grams, 12 grams protein, 16 grams sugar (3.2 teaspoons)
  • Price: $1.39

1. Wallaby Organic 1.5% Greek Yogurt

Although this yogurt was lacking the traditional thickness of Greek yogurt, it was by far the best. The packaging is similar to Fage yogurts in that you can choose how much blueberry sauce to add to the plain yogurt. The sauce itself was sweet and tasted like blueberry pie filling.

“#1 solid.” –Tucker

  • Nutrition: 140 calories/150 grams, 12 grams protein, 15 grams sugar (2.4 teaspoons)
  • Price: $1.50
