How to Make a DIY Phone Speaker in 3 Easy Steps

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at U Vic chapter.

When I was a freshman in uni, one of the biggest things I always wished that I had was a speaker for my phone. Even now, my speaker is one of my biggest purchases that I could have avoided by using this dead simple speaker hack. So, Spooniverse, may you learn from my regrets and use this free (yeah, as in you don’t have to spend a single cent) DIY phone speaker to your heart’s (and ears’?) desire.

Instructions

  1. Ellie Gilchrist

Trace the outline of the bottom of your phone onto the toilet paper roll.

  2. Ellie Gilchrist

Cut just inside the outline you’ve drawn – you can always make the hole bigger but you can never make it smaller.

  3. Ellie Gilchrist

Push your push pins into the toilet paper roll 90° from where your phone hole is.

    Start jamming!!

To make your music louder, just add more toilet paper rolls to the ends. A friend of mine even cut holes in Solo cups and attached them to the roll to make it louder. It’s your phone speaker so go wild, you make up the rules. Happy listening!
