For anyone who is constantly on the move, protein shakes are an awesome way to get in a filling and nutritious meal that you can take wherever you’re going. Check out these awesome ways to up your protein shake game!

1. Frozen Bananas

TRUST ME, this may be the best smoothie hack out there. This trick alone will up your shake game forever. The added bananas won’t mess around with the flavor of the shake too much, but the texture bonus they pack is superb.

Say goodbye to the awkward, thin but chunky shakes we’ve all had at some point in time, and say hello to rich and creamy.

2. Extracts

Tired of drinking the same one or two flavors everyday and don’t want to buy a whole can of red velvet cake protein? Extracts will be your saving grace. Stick to chocolate and vanilla, or other basic flavors you won’t get sick of, when buying protein powder.

Just add a cap-full of whichever flavor of extract you prefer. It can turn a boring shake into something you can’t get enough of (#SpoonTip: peppermint extract in your usual chocolate shake will put you in thin mint heaven).

3. Powdered Peanut Butter

Random globs of peanut butter in your shake -or worse, your blender- are not good. We’ve all been there, done that and prayed for a way to make it stop.

Well guess what? Powdered peanut butter is your new best friend. Add it into your shake before blending just as you would with protein powder and voila! A clump free shake with all of its peanut butter-y goodness still in tact.

4. JELL-O Pudding Powder

This is a game changer if I have ever seen one. Like extract, JELL-O powder is a way to flavor a shake without buying a new protein or adding a million different ingredients. However, while extracts create a single potent flavor to any shake, the JELL-O powder is already a premixed balance of exactly what you’re craving.

In the mood for cheesecake? Add a tablespoon of the cheesecake powder to your shake before blending and you now have a (significantly) healthier version of the typically sinful dessert.

5. Veggies

I know what you must be thinking, but hear me out. If you’re anything like me, the thought of eating anything green makes you physically cringe, but as we all know, the nutrients are essential. So lets take a trick out of the parenting book and hide our veggies in things we actually enjoy.

Vegetables like spinach, kale and carrots are all packed with nutrients and have no impact on the taste of your protein shake, making this an easy (and painless) way to get your daily dose of green!

6. Fruit

An option more popular than vegetables, fruit is another healthy way to spice up a protein shake. The fresh, bright flavors are perfect to help start a morning off right in a breakfast shake, or give a little boost of energy before a workout.

Add berries with your protein to create an antioxidant rich smoothie, or pineapple and mango for a more tropical drink. The options are endless! #SpoonTip: freeze fruit pieces or berries overnight if you want to thicken up your shake a little more.
