As a makeup artist, I've seen everything from sparkling ruby red lips to sharp contours and everything in between. Although these looks are definitely fabulous, funky, and fun, it can be refreshing to try a natural, everyday makeup look. No makeup, makeup? Don't be confused. Here's my tips to achieving this stunning look.

The Right Foundation

Finding the right foundation for your skin's texture and tone is your first big task. In order to find your perfect match, it's recommended to talk to a professional from a brand you are comfortable with. I recommend Clinique if you have sensitive skin like me. This may sound like a daunting task so I'll let you in on a secret. Sometimes there's no such thing as a "perfect" shade. No worries, you can mix and match your shades. Even better, if you love DIY projects, learn how to make your own foundation. It's important to switch your foundation shades from season to season. While this may seem like common sense, you'd be surprised to see how many people walk around with a bronzed faced and pale necks.

Application

When applying foundation, make sure not to over-do it. Squeeze a drop the size of a chocolate chip onto your brush and blend into your skin. Make sure there are no streaks by quickly dabbing the applicator instead of smearing long strokes across your face.

If you're like most of us, there are probably some areas that need a little extra attention. So, let's talk about those pesky pimples and dark circles, don't hesitate to try out color correcting and then applying your favorite concealer.

Finishing Touches

The next essential step to achieve the perfect look is to balance out your matte and shine. Lightly pack powder under your eyes, on the middle of your forehead, nose and chin—the t-zone area. That's a common area that produces oil and creates unwanted shine.

Now comes the fun part. Grab your favorite highlighter and fan brush and start applying to the high points of your face. Make sure to add some extra sparkle to your cheek bones and the tip of your nose. When the natural light hits you, there definitely will be a a flattering shimmer. If you want to enhance the shape of your face, feel free to add some blush to the apple of your cheeks and bronze your cheekbones. Finally, lightly fill in your brows and remember they are sisters not twins. Don't forget to apply a thin coat of black or brown mascara to add some volume to your lashes.

Finish off this natural look with gloss and setting spray and, vuola! You will be sure to feel confident and comfortable with your no makeup, makeup look.
