Avocado Chips Are Now a Thing, and We’re Living For Them

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at FIU chapter.

Lately, it seems as if we’ve made just about everything avocado-related this generation can possibly come up with: avocado cookies, avocado mousse, even avocado juice. Don’t get me wrong, I love avocado, as in a I eat it multiple times a day and am obsessed with its health benefits type of love. But, I truly thought we were just about finished inventing different ways to incorporate this creamy fruit into our favorite foods.

But, once again, I’m proven wrong, because a quick glance at the internet and suddenly I see avocado chips are a thing. After finding this out, all I cared about was that I can now eat avocado chips dipped into guacamole and get double the avocado fun. I mean, I am living for this. Here’s why you should, too.

The Story Behind AvoLov

Eric Healy was looking for a way to live a healthier lifestyle, and he, along with his wife, upon hearing its great benefits, decided to take it upon themselves a plant-based diet. After seeing its astonishing effects on their health and weight, they decided it was exactly what they needed.

The only thing they were missing? Healthy snacks that weren’t made with refined, inflammatory oils, and that were plant-based and laden in nutrients. Upon deciding that avocados would make a great snack, they only had one problem—they went bad way too quickly. Hence, Healy dehydrated avocado slices to make them last longer, and AvoLov avocado chips were born.

The Products

All AvoLov products are made from 100 percent Hass Avocados (the small, creamy kind!) and are dehydrated at low temperatures to ensure that all nutrients of the avocado are retained. They come in a bunch of different, delicious flavors, that upon hearing the names make me drool all over my desk:

Pink Himalayan Salt

Chili and Lime

Zesty Nacho

– And last, but certainly not least, Sriracha

I mean…come on! It’s like guacamole in a chip. This just screams foodie. And the best part? They’re completely and utterly nutritious.

Nutrition

Being that the main ingredient in these chips are Hass avocados, you can be assured that you’re getting almost the same benefits of this creamy fruit as if you were eating it in its whole form: lots of fiber, potassium to lower blood pressure, folate, antioxidants, and of course, healthy monounsaturated fats that promote an increase in our good cholesterol (HDL), and decrease in our bad one (LDL).

My favorite part about these chips is that the ingredient list doesn’t contain funky additives or inflammatory oils; the simple list for the Pink Himalayan Salt chips, for example, looks like this:

Hass Avocados, Tapioca Flour, Sea Salt, Onion Powder, Rice Flour, Yeast Extract, Garlic Powder, Spices, Paprika, Lactic Acid, Citric Acid, Bell Pepper Powder, Vinegar.

All great ingredients to ensure you’re getting the best flavor on this tasty, wholesome snack. Plus, they’re Non-GMO, Kosher, and Paleo-friendly. What’s not to love about AvoLov?

These chips look like the real deal, and as a fan of eating real, whole food that nourishes both my body and mind and provides them with the nutrients they needs to be happy, strong, and sharp, I can definitely say I can’t wait to get my hands on these. (And dip them in guac, because double the avo equals double the fun, am I right?)

AvoLov chips are currently being sold on Amazon. You can check out the awesome company on Instagram, on Facebook, and on their website
