Did someone tell you that you look sick this morning? Maybe you're just lacking a healthy glow and have painfully dry skin. It's probably because, like me, you had to walk to class in negative temperatures with extreme windchill.

Try these quick fixes so you and your skin don’t have to suffer through the rest of the winter.

1. Hydrate

Keep yourself hydrated by drinking water as often as you can. Bonus points if you add a few fruit slices or lemon/lime wedges. If water isn't your best friend, well, try to hydrate with something else healthy.

I also highly recommend getting a vitamin A supplement, something my doctor recommended to me. I use VitaMedica’s Healthy Skin Formula ($26), which helps my skin absorb the water and keeps it clear with a skin glow from within.

2. Get Creative with your Routine

My favorite DIY food mask is a banana avocado blend. First, exfoliate to remove dead skin, I use Boscia’s Exfoliating Peel Gel. Then, mix together half of a banana, half of an avocado, 1 teaspoon of honey, and 1 teaspoon of milk or greek yogurt.

Apply to your face for 10-15 minutes and rinse with lukewarm water. Your face should be softer than a baby’s butt, but remember to follow with a moisturizer.

3. Invest in Good Products

You don’t want to overdo your beauty routine in the winter, because you can end up drying out your skin more. Dryness can actually cause your body to create more oil.

Instead of a nice, natural skin glow, you’ll end up with peeling skin and a layer of oil on top. I recommend using a moisturizer like Skin Laundry Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 35 ($25) for a subtle glow underneath your makeup.

It might also be beneficial to invest in a vitamin C serum, such as Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum ($45). The vitamin C will help brighten uneven skin.

Follow these tips for a year-round skin glow your friends will be dying to know how you got.
