Jacky Li

UC Berkeley '26

Jacky Li is a UC Berkeley student pursuing double major in Interdisciplinary Studies, and Society and Environment with a minor in Sustainable Design. He also studies in the dual degree program with Sciences Po Paris, majoring Politics and Government, with a specialization in the Asia-Pacific region. His academic journey reflects his passion for connecting global issues, such as sustainability, culture, and public policy, with everyday experiences like the food we eat.

Beyond the classroom, Jacky has worked across journalism, advocacy, and community leadership. He is Head Copyeditor at the Berkeley Political Review and was an editor for the Berkeley Journal of Criminal Law, where he sharpens his eye for clarity, storytelling, and authenticity. His advocacy has taken shape through projects supporting immigrant communities with East Bay Sanctuary Covenant, advancing BIPOC environmental justice curricula at UC Berkeley, and leading student initiatives in the UK, U.S., and France.

At heart, Jacky is a traveler and storyteller who has documented food in 44 different countries. His favorite meals are the simplest ones: his mother’s beef, potato, and tomato stew and his father’s scallion oil noodles. These are the dishes that taught him how food carries culture and connection across borders. When he’s not writing or editing, you can find him experimenting in the kitchen, exploring Berkeley’s hidden food gems, or planning his next culinary adventure somewhere around the world.
