Hayatt Usman is a member of the Spoon University National Writer Program, where she covers food trends, news, and stories that highlight the role food plays in shaping community and culture.
Outside of Spoon University, Hayatt is in her senior year of University at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario, pursuing a bachelor's degree in Communication Studies with a concentration in Digital Media and a minor in Women and Gender Studies. Hayatt writes for her university's Her Campus chapter covering lifestyle, beauty, and wellness, and is a part of their social media marketing team, where she contributes to the chapter's Pinterest.
Previously, she worked as a Behaviour and Communications counsellor in the Waterloo region, delivering communications programs to incarcerated women through Correctional Service Canada, helping foster self-advocacy and empowerment. Currently, she is completing a Beats by Dre externship in Data Analytics, where she is building new skills in digital marketing and performance metrics to better understand audience behavior and strategic content development.
In her free time, Hayatt enjoys discovering new music to listen to, working out at the gym, and going for runs. She's also an avid manga reader who loves getting lost in immersive stories and exploring different art styles.
