Emma Schorr

Hi my name is Emma and I'm a freshman at BU! I'm a psychology major and possibly pre-med. I’m from Fairfield County in Connecticut which is about an hour outside New York City.

I worked with my town's high school's culinary arts program throughout middle and high school. I was a camper and counselor at my high school’s summer cooking camp and loved working with kids and teaching them culinary skills. I also was president of my high school’s cooking club and sustained programs like cooking dinners for my town’s homeless shelter and making weekly soups to sell in the teacher’s cafeteria to fundraise for the culinary program. I baked in a holiday cookie program, selling to almost every teacher in the school.

Other than cooking and baking, I really enjoy listening to music like Taylor Swift, the Backseat Lovers, Lana Del Rey, Kendrick Lamar, and the Neighbourhood. I also started playing club squash BU since I played on my high school's team. I’m a big foodie and half Chinese Malaysian so my whole life I’ve been exposed to many different cultural foods and flavors. My favorite cuisines are Thai and Cantonese and I’ve been having a lot of fun with my friends exploring Chinatown here in Boston.

I love writing about food, flavor, and experiences and I hope I get to continue that at Spoon!
