Alexander Weiss is a member of the Class of 2028 at Cornell University, where he is majoring in Communication in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences with a minor in Business through the SC Johnson College of Business. His academic interests center on media, storytelling, and audience engagement, with a particular focus on live broadcast media. Through his coursework, Alexander is developing skills in communication strategy, media analysis, and professional presentation that support his long-term goal of working in the broadcasting industry.
Outside of the classroom, Alexander is actively involved in campus life and leadership. He serves as an executive board member of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity, where he contributes to organizational planning, philanthropic efforts, and house management. In addition, plays for Cornell’s Division II Club Hockey team. Being part of a competitive athletic program has strengthened his teamwork, discipline, and time-management skills, while also reinforcing his appreciation for collaboration and leadership in high-pressure environments.
Alexander’s personal experiences strongly inform his academic perspective. He has lived with celiac disease since the age of ten, an experience that has given him a meaningful understanding of how food and dietary needs can shape an individual’s daily life. Navigating a strict gluten-free diet has deepened his awareness of food systems, access, and personal health, and has shaped the way he thinks about individual experience and identity.
