Earlier his month, Spoon Duke teamed up with Happy + Hale to bring you finals relief with food and yoga. On December 11, some off Duke’s most stressed students met to practice relaxation with instruction from Yoga off East (located right behind Happy + Hale), as well as eat breakfast. At 8:30 am on a freezing morning, we packed into the restaurant to do yoga on the floor.
Part I: Yoga
With a focus on personal and community strength, we were instructed to repeat to ourselves that we are stronger than we thought. With this in mind, we were able to move through the poses with power, gaining confidence – confidence in ourselves, and our ability to conquer finals. This exercise was encouraging, and translated to gratitude and respect for ourselves and for what we represent at this time.
With our crazy week ahead, we bound together as a community. Standing in tree pose and then into warrior 3, we linked arms with our neighbors. This support empowered us and gave us the strength to persevere through finals.
Part II: Food
At the end of the practice, Happy + Hale kindly offered tastings of açai bowls. A crowd favorite, and a health fad, the refreshing fruity bowl was a perfect end to our morning yoga workout. This ideal health food helped us to start the day; the balance of fruit and granola rejuvenated us to get ready to take on the week ahead.
After doing this class, I would highly recommend some type of yoga or relaxation class to clear your mind of hectic schedules and crazy classes. It’s a great and healthy way to help yourself succeed.
When you’re back on campus in a few weeks for the spring, make sure to stop by Happy + Hale for fresh food and friendly staff. Stay up to date with our partnership by following both Spoon Duke and Happy + Hale on Instagram. Thanks to everyone who joined us for this event!
