TikTok is full of dazzling makeup hacks and MUAs sharing their favorite tips and tricks. Just take the recent “underblushing” technique floating around social media, for example. Or, of course, bows are all over the internet right now, even in makeup looks. While these are adorable ideas, one rising makeup hack doesn’t require any makeup brushes or trendy Sephora products. However, it does require something rather unconventional: broccoli. Yes, it’s true, broccoli freckles are starting to appear on makeup-loving For Your Pages across the social media platform. But, what exactly is the broccoli freckles hack and does it even work?
What is the broccoli freckles hack?
There are many freckle tints, pens, and powders on the market, but you can seemingly create flawless freckles at home with makeup you already have…as long as your fridge is stocked, that is. The hack recently gained virality with TikTok user @abis_skincare, who now has nearly 2 million views on the video. (Though, this hack was also floating around in the late 2010s, and even appeared on a 5 Minute Crafts video.) Here, the makeup creator took a small piece of broccoli, dipped the textured top of it into her bronzing powder, and delicately patted it onto her nose and cheeks. While she made a comment in her comment section that said “please do not take this trend seriously,” many other TikTok users began recreating this.
User @cajsawessberg directly applied liquid bronzer to the broccoli piece and created very natural-looking freckles as well. Overall, myriad TikTok users have tried their hand at the broccoli freckles look with products on hand.
Does the broccoli freckles hack work?
All in all, many users of the unconventional hack have been pleased. Would they continuously keep broccoli bundles in their fridge to make it work? Time will certainly tell!
TikTok users have been celebrating the natural look (no pun intended) that they’re getting with the makeup hack. User @chhimmigurung tested the hack and was visibly surprised with the results.
Users in the comments of this video are hopeful that a broccoli-shaped applicator will arrive on the market so fresh produce doesn’t have to go to waste. (Of course, you can still wash off your makeup broccoli and eat it if you prefer to.)
Though, not everyone is a fan of the hack, including Glam Raider, who gave it a big thumbs down.
While it might sound silly, broccoli freckles are definitely worth at least a good try if you’re a faux freckles fan.
