Top 10 Vegetarian Menu Items At Taco Bell

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Rutgers chapter.

I’d be lying if I said Taco Bell wasn’t my most frequent fast food visit. It always hits the spot and is insanely affordable. Taco Bell is a tried and true favorite for the vegetarian crowd because of its affordable, diverse, and delicious menu selection. Here are the top 10 vegetarian options on the menu, IMHO.

10) Power Menu Bowl – Veggie

While I have personally not tried this, it seems like a solid option. You can never go wrong with a bowl at a Mexican restaurant, and it covers all the main food groups. It’s relatively low calorie and likely very filling — a healthy option, you might say. I shall try this the next time I go!

9) Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito

This is not the most exciting, but it’s definitely tasty and VERY cheap. This gets the job done in making you full, and I think you can certainly enjoy it. There’s not much else to it, which is why it is near the bottom.

8)  Crunchy Taco Supreme

A classic. It has all the ingredients you could ask for in a taco. This is a great option if you want a snack or a full meal.  Order as many as you please. It’s delicious and customizable, but it doesn’t stand out in comparison to the other options on this list, which is why it is so low on the list.

7) Double Stacked Taco

What an upgrade to a taco! You can substitute the beef for either refried or black beans. I love the soft and crunchy shell combination, AND I am a major fan of the Fiesta strips! I think this is a great new item!

6) Black Bean Crunchwrap Supreme

The crunch wrap is ahead of its time! It’s interesting, fun to eat, and an exciting option. I love the crunch of the tostada paired with the tortilla, all the ingredients you would expect inside, and the fun hexagonal (I think) shape!

5) Veggie Mexican Pizza

Just look at that picture. The Mexican pizza is crunchy, cheesy, and super delicious all around. I think I could eat 10 in a sitting if I wanted to. It is a great addition to your Taco Bell meal, and I love to get the Mexican Pizza combo with a medium drink and two supreme tacos! The only reason it’s not higher is because I don’t think it’s as good of a standalone as some of the next menu items!

4) Black Bean Chalupa

The chalupa is one of the more exciting menu items! The crispy and thick chalupa shell is delicious, and the overall chalupa pairs wonderfully with the Fire Sauce! This is one of my favorite specialty items.

3) The Beloved and Very Missed Nacho Fries

The on-and-off-again side holds a special place in many of our hearts. The fries are flavored amazingly, and the nacho cheese dip is the cherry on top. I used to get these at least once a week, and I would really appreciate seeing the Nacho Fries back on the menu soon.

2) Spicy Potato Taco

I think this value menu item is HIGHLY underrated. I only first tried it a few weeks ago, but I am positive it changed my life. The satiating and flavorful spicy potatoes pair amazingly with the cheese, lettuce, and chipotle sauce. This is a light yet rewarding snack. I also adore eating it with the hot Taco Bell sauce!

1) Black Bean Grilled Cheese Burrito

This burrito is incredible in every way. It’s indulgent, rich, flavorful, filling, and makes me so happy when I eat it. There’s a load of cheese inside and grilled on top. The rice, black beans, and fiesta stripes also add to the delightful taste and texture. I love to add jalapenos, too, for extra texture and spice. Overall, I cannot rave enough about it!
