Van Leeuwen’s New Pizza Ice Cream Is Coming to Walmart

Now you can have your pizza and eat it too – but only if it comes in ice cream form. Although Van Leeuwen’s controversial Kraft Mac & Cheese ice cream debuted to very mixed reviews, it hasn’t stopped the ice cream company from delving further into the unexpected with its latest flavor creation: Pizza.

Beginning March 14, you’ll be able to find some of the NYC-based ice cream maker’s fan-favorite flavors in Walmart stores nationwide. The ‘exclusive rotation’ of limited-edition ice cream flavors will include the internet-breaking Kraft Macaroni & Cheese; fan-favorite Royal Wedding Cake; Hot Honey; and the all-new Pizza.

“Yup. You heard that right,” Van Leeuwen wrote on Twitter. “You’ve had pizza. You’ve had ice cream. It’s only natural to have some Pizza ice cream.”

One large cheese Pizza (ice cream) for pick up, please.

The new Pizza flavor is a pint made with cream cheese and mozzarella ice cream mixed with tomato jam swirls and basil crust cookies. The flavor will be sold exclusively at Walmart stores.

“What inspired us to start making ice cream was the idea that good food, and good ice cream, made from good ingredients, should be widely available on the market. We made these seven exclusive flavors using the same artisanal processes and ingredients that we have been using to make our ice cream for the past 15 years,” CEO Ben Van Leeuwen said in a press release.

“There are also unique and surprisingly delicious flavors that you would never expect to love as an ice cream (mac and cheese, and pizza!).”

Along with the Pizza and Kraft Macaroni & Cheese flavors, Van Leeuwen is bringing back its Planet Earth and Hot Honey (a collaboration with Mike’s Hot Honey), as well as favorites such as Royal Wedding Cake, Bourbon Cherries Jubilee, and Wild Blueberry Shortcake to 3,500 Walmart stores.

The Van Leeuwen collection, including Pizza, will be available exclusively in stores and Walmart.com for a limited time, starting March 14. Bon appetit?
