Beyond winning Season 7 of Bravo’s Top Chef, Chef Kevin Sbraga has made a big name for himself, and he’s done it right here in Philadelphia. With his eponymous restaurant Sbraga as well as his newer spot The Fat Ham, Sbraga has made modern American cuisine new and exciting again. While his restaurants are considered some of the best in the city, Spoon wanted to find out what Sbraga likes to do outside of his restaurant kitchens. Check out what Sbraga likes to eat on his days off and learn about his soft-spot for his mom’s cooking. Stay tuned for more juicy interviews with other Philly chefs!

Spoon: Where do you like to eat on your days off?

Sbraga: I enjoy cooking for and with my children on my days off. However, we do eat out every so often. Little Nonna’s is a favorite, so is Pizzeria Stella.

Spoon: What are your favorite Philadelphia restaurants?

Sbraga: I really enjoy what Joe Cicala is doing at Le Virtu. His use of spice is really interesting to me.

Spoon: What is your favorite dish to cook at home?

Sbraga: There is nothing better than spaghetti and meatballs. That is the ultimate comfort food to me.

Spoon: What was your favorite childhood meal?

Sbraga: My mom’s scrambled eggs were the best.
