A Ranking of the Best Raw Rev Bars

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Tulane chapter.

All throughout high school and college I have been struggling to find the best protein bar. One that will keep me full, one that is somewhat nutritious, and one that tastes delicious. After years of testing, I found out about Raw Rev Glo.

Raw Rev was founded by Alice Benedetto and Dave Friedman. Alice is a nurse who became interested in nutrition and finding tasty vegan options for her patients. All Raw Rev bars are 100% vegan and nut-based. They are high in fiber and low in carbs. They currently have eight flavors: Creamy Peanut Butter & Sea Salt, Crunchy Peanut Butter & Sea Salt, Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt, Mixed Nuts, Caramel & Sea Salt, Double Chocolate Brownie Batter, Dark Chocolate Cashew & Mint, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, and Birthday Cake.

Although I have not tried all of them, I consider myself an expert on the ones I have tried such as Creamy Peanut Butter & Sea Salt, Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt, Double Chocolate Brownie Batter, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. Here’s my ranking of the four flavors I’ve tried.

4. Creamy Peanut Butter

Do not get me wrong, I LOVE all things peanut butter, but there’s something about this favor that puts itself at the bottom of my list. There are Chia and Flax seeds that get in the way of the texture of the bar. It also just tastes the same to me as the Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt flavor so when given the choice I would like the option of additional chocolate. The great thing about this bar is that there are only 3 net carbs and 2 grams of sugar, so it is a great way to get some more fiber into your diet.

3. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough

Once again, I am a HUGE fan of cookie dough (I mean who isn’t?), but this flavor falls just a bit short. The texture really does taste like cookie dough which is amazing, but the flavor is missing something. I still love this flavor and eat it all the time because it basically is healthy cookie dough without the risk of getting salmonella. This flavor has 10 grams of protein and 5 grams of sugar, so it’s another great option.

2. Peanut Butter, Dark Chocolate & Sea Salt

This flavor is so good. Its peanut buttery with just the right amount of chocolate chips throughout. In my opinion, it’s taking the best parts of the past two flavors and mixing them together, so what could be bad? These bars have 11 grams of protein and 3 grams of sugar still proving my point that not only are they delicious, but they keep me satisfied and feeling good.

1. Double Chocolate Brownie Batter

Do not walk, RUN to get these bars. They are unlike the other flavors because they have a chocolate base with chocolate chips throughout, so if you are a chocolate lover like me this is the flavor for you. Although they are not the same texture as brownie batter (because that would be impossible in a bar), it makes up for it in flavor. These bars have 11 grams of protein and 4 grams of sugar.

Overall, I would devour any of these flavored Raw Rev Glo bars over other types of protein bars. Trying the other flavors is next on my To-Do list, and I suggest you do the same.
