Macaulay Culkin’s Pizza-Themed Cover Band Is As Weird As You’d Imagine

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Wash U chapter.

Quick, imagine three of your favorite things; chances are it included something along the lines of cheese, carbohydrates, and/or sex, am I right?

Well, luckily for us, there is a band touring the country that will (more or less) combine all three. That’s right, the heavens are coming down upon us in the form of the Pizza Underground, playing at venues across the country, with their schedule available on here.

The Pizza Underground is a pizza themed Velvet Underground (and other assorted parts of pop culture) cover band led by Macaulay Culkin, the boy from Home Alone.

That means that instead of hearing “I’m Sticking with You,” you are more likely to hear “I’m Sticking to You,” an ode to gooey cheese-y goodness. There will be erotic musings about the way that little string of cheese just wrestles between your mouth and the surface of the pizza, and there will be romantic, soulful verses about choosing just the right toppings or waiting for the delivery man, a struggle all of us can relate to. And if you’re lucky, you might get a free slice of pizza at the show.

As someone who has seem them perform live before, I can tell you that it is quite an experience, but I have one piece of advice for you rookies; make sure you have plans for pizza afterwards. There’s nothing worse than fantasizing about pizza for an hour and not being able to satisfy your cravings.

So whether you love songs about pizza, count yourself as a Lou Reed fanatic, or just want to say you were there, a Pizza Underground concert is a must.
