Cozy Up at HIDE for Cocktails and Christmas Spirit

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at SMU chapter.

Forget spiked grocery-store egg nog; these are not your mother’s Christmas cocktails.

Deep Ellum‘s HIDE Bar is known throughout Dallas for their innovative drinks in unassumingly trendy digs. Now, thanks to Cocktail Kingdom’s Christmas Cocktail Pop-up Experience out of NYC, HIDE offers Dallas’ first and only pop-up site. Running through December 30th–with 10% of proceeds from Cocktail Kingdom’s Miracle glassware going to Action Against Hunger–go ahead and treat yourself while supporting a great cause.

So, let’s get to the good stuff;

The Cocktails

HIDE lists some highlights of what you’ll find in their self-made winter wonderland on their blog.

Christmaspolitan: Vodka, Elderflower, dry vermouth, spiced cranberry sauce, rosemary, lime, and absinthe rinse.

Bad Santa: Served hot, this includes Barbados rum, Trinidad overproof rum, Batavia arrack, pineapple juice, lemon juice, almond milk, 8 spices, coconut water, and coconut oil.

Snowball Old Fashioned: Gingerbread bourbon, wormwood bitters, and lemon zest.

Christmas Carol Barrel: Aged rum, aquavit, amaro, pumpkin pie, demerara syrup, lime, vanilla, and angostura bitters.

And A Partridge In A Pear Tree: Reposado tequila, pear brandy, mezcal, spiced demerara syrup, lime, egg white, club soda, angostura bitters, cinnamon.

Jingle Ball Nog: Cognac, Ximenez Sherry, brown butter, cinnamon, cherry, vanilla, almond milk, cream, sugar, egg, nutmeg.

The Décor

HIDE has completely decked the halls, with retro ornaments and lighted holiday trees throughout. Enjoy clips of classic Christmas movies on the big screens, surrounded by wrapped gifts hung on the exposed brick walls. Every seat back is home to an oversized Santa hat, and every table is draped with a festive candy-cane table cloth.

What better place to get holiday pictures to spice up your Instagram feed?

If you’re a Christmas junkie looking for a fun cocktail, then HIDE is your destination. HIDE is open for business Saturday 11am-2am, Sunday 11am-12am, Monday-Wednesday 5pm-12am, and Thursday and Friday from 5pm-2am. So go grab a Bad Santa to warm up, or hit HIDE over the weekend for brunch!
