Disney movies have always been a comfort for me, from the time my mom would pop the tape into the VCR until the end credits. These movies transported me to a different world. And you didn’t understand the struggle until you had to sit there and rewind the VCR… by hand. I would do it anyway just to watch some of these classics over again, granted, other films on this list didn’t require VCR so I re-watched them on DVD.
I also remember being hungry in some parts of the film and wishing I could recreate the magical feast before me. Unfortunately, I was 10 and couldn’t exactly work an oven by myself. As I look back now, there are still some Disney food scenes that I can’t let go of, 10 in particular. After scouring the internet, I learned that you can actually recreate these yourself! Safe to say I know what I’m doing this weekend.
Princess and the Frog: Tiana’s Beignets
Tiana’s dream was to open up her own restaurant. My only dream is to try one of her famously delicious beignets. Just look at that powdered sugar action.

Emporer’s New Groove: Kronk’s Spinach Puffs
This hunk of teddy bear cared so much for the spinach puffs that he had to run so they don’t burn. That’s when I knew I needed to try Kronks famous Spinach puffs, even if Yzma didn’t like them.

Alice and Wonderland: Unbirthday Cake
You are guaranteed one birthday, but I want to be like the Mad Hatter and celebrate my unbirthday the other 364 days in the year. And if it’s not your birthday today, make a pink Mad Hatter cake and celebrate your unbirthday too!

Lady and the Tramp: Spaghetti and Meatballs
Easily one of the most romantic moments on film. When he nudges her the last meatball, my 10-year-old self almost died. Tony’s Famous Spaghetti Special has been in my dreams ever since.

The Aristocats: Crème de la crème à la Edgar
Even though Edgar tried to steal the kittens, the milk he made to put them to sleep looked so good. He added a bunch of spices and vanilla that the kittens loved every time he made it, minus the sleeping pills of course.

Beauty and the Beast: Hors-d’oeuvres
I want to be as pampered as Belle was—she just waltzes in and is instantly fed by animated objects? Sign me up. The closest we can get is making the same hors-d’oeuvres that Lumière so graciously served Belle. And we can’t forget the gray stuff, of course.

Santa Clause 2: Hot Cocoa
Even plastic Santa can’t contain his excitement when Judy the Elf gives him a cup of her famous hot cocoa. He even exclaims he feels a buzz… Not sure what that means in a kids film, but it made me want this hot cocoa even more.

Ratatouille: Remy’s Soup
Remy really did Linguine a solid by saving his horrendous mishap of a soup. This soup even saved the restaurant from going under and wowed a food critic! Warning: You cannot watch this movie without feeling hungry for every scene.

A Goofy Movie: Alphabet Soup
This heart-warming scene shows how much Goofy cares for Max and still wants him to feel like they can still do stuff together without being a complete embarrassment. Thankfully, Max notices how much Goofy loves him and he shows how he still cares by writing out “hi dad,” in his soup like he did when he was a kid. Anyone craving alphabet soup yet? Maybe a tissue?

Zootopia: Pawpsicles
From the moment Judy Hopps helped Nick Wilde in the elephant ice cream parlor, she witnessed her first hustle. I don’t support Nick’s behavior, but the whole turning a jumbo-pop into smaller pawpsicles and selling it is genius. We can’t go to Zootopia anytime soon, but we sure can make these cherry pawpsicles right at home.

Thanks Disney
I have to give a shout out to Disney real quick for instilling in me the wonders of food at such a young age. All of these movies hold a special place in my heart and it excites me knowing there are people out there that actually created a legit recipe for us to try our fantasy foods. Now that I know how to work the oven, I’ll definitely be trying these recipes at home.
