It’s summer time, and sitting in your office is probably not where you want to be. Your desk and computer screen may seem like it is trapping you, while your friends are off celebrating the summer heat. I feel this struggle whenever I am able to sneak a peak on Insta or Snap and see people getting cute brunches or loungin’ at the beach yet I am stuck in a windowless office space. I currently work part-time at my dad’s post production facility in downtown Culver City, called Post Haste Digital. It is always hectic and crazy in the post production world, as we try to meet deadlines for projects and find the perfect voice actors, but my coworkers and I decided to get a break from all the work. We did this by throwing a Pasta-Off Competition, where those who wanted to participate could make their best homemade pasta dish for everyone to try and share. We had all kinds of dishes, from baked pastas, to pasta salads, and even a dessert pasta. There is no prize, except awesome bragging rights of course, but it is such a fun office bonding experience. Plus, who could resist unlimited, free pasta!?
Carbs on Carbs on Carbs
We had amazing pastas to choose from and feast on during our lunch break. Even if people didn’t make a pasta dish, they could enjoy the plenty of pasta laid out for everyone to share!
Carbonara with bow-tie pasta is always a simple, yet classic move. Little bacon bits, cream sauce, and cracked black pepper make for a savory, creamy bite.
Baked, cheesy pasta. Melted cheese on top. Sounds like carb + cheese heaven.
Cold, refreshing pasta salad with olives, peppers, cucumbers, and a light vinaigrette is the perfect summer pasta meal. And the colors are stunning!
Pasta shells with peas and onions…light and fresh with a tangy feta cheese kick.
Baked ziti penne pasta with marinara sauce and melted mozzarella cheese topped with parmesan. Meaty, cheesy, and sizzlin’ hot!
Rotini is the perfect pasta noodle to compliment a creamy, cheesy, and mushroom filled sauce.
Chinese chicken pasta salad? I’m here for it. From the sesame dressing to the chicken, scallions, and onions, it is refreshing for a hot summer day (in an air-conditioned office space I suppose). Interesting pasta noodle choice if I do say so myself…
To end on a sweet note, dessert pasta is where it’s at. Sweet creamy pasta will def be the cherry on top to all the salty, cheesy goodness you just devoured during your carby lunch break.
And what compliments pasta better than some red wine? Indulge in a little bit of wine just to loosen you up during your lunch break, but not enough to interrupt your work flow. Just a few sips to maybe get the creative juices flowing and to make your work day go by a tad faster. I would recommend this fun, carb-filled activity to inspire office bonding, get a break from all the craziness, and to win bragging rights of course.
