Wine Donuts Are Now A Thing, Thanks To The Doughnut Project and Cavit Wines

National Pinot Grigio day is around the corner on May 17th, which calls for a toast and celebration. Some people might just drink some Pinot Grigio and call it a day, while others have more creative ways to celebrate; just look at The Doughnut Project and Cavit Wines. The two brands have collaborated to invent wine donuts for us all (and in honor of National Pinot Grigio Day), and here are all the deets about the two brands and their joint collab.

What’s the deal with Cavit Wines?

According to the brand’s website, Cavit Wines is an Italian wine brand that’s known for having the top-selling Pinot Grigio in all of America. The Pinot Grigio, in particular, has an alcohol content of 12.1% and comes in four different sizes, including 187ml, 375ml, 750ml, and a 1.5-liter bottle. A standard 750ml bottle retails for $8.99, while a 1.5-liter bottle usually retails for $14.99.

Cavit’s Pinot Grigio is lighter than most wines and is best consumed during the spring and summer. The actual wine itself has notes of pear, apple, almonds, and citrus. However, just because this Pinot Grigio is on the lighter side doesn’t mean that it’s not dry. It’s best to consume this wine chilled and to ideally pair it with dishes such as pasta, veal, and chicken.

Cavit Wines also just released a new Cavit Rosé and Cavit Prosecco with the help of Palm Bay International. Both wines are limited edition and retail for $15 and under. The rosé retails for $8.99 ($9 if the extra penny means nothing to you and if you’re a fan of rounding up), and the prosecco retails for $14.99 ($15 if, like before, the extra penny means nothing to you and if you’re a fan of rounding up). 

What’s this wine donut that you speak of?

As a result of the collaboration between Cavit Wine and The Doughnut Project, the world is now blessed with wine donuts that are labeled as the Cavit Pinot Grigio Doughnut. The wine donuts will be available at The Doughnut Project’s West Village location at 10 Morton Street in New York beginning May 14th and ending on May 20th.

In case you’re wondering what the actual donut tastes like, let me spill the tea. The Cavit Pinot Grigio Doughnut has a cheesecake filling, meringue, and a Cavit Pinot Grigio glaze. The donut resembles a fluffy little cloud with a unique taste that’s also aesthetically pleasing enough to post on Instagram, and that alone makes me want to save and cherish the donut for the rest of my life.

What’s The Doughnut Project?

The Doughnut Project is a donut shop with two locations in New York City that produces unique donut flavors in small batches. They’re best known for their ‘Everything Donut’ and take inspiration from New York’s food scene. Most of their donuts sell out on a daily basis and are always fresh, so keep that in mind. The Doughnut Project opens at 8 am during the week and at 9 am on Saturday and Sunday and are usually closed until 6 pm or until they’re all sold out of donuts, meaning you should plan wisely if you want one of these bad boys before they sell out.

While the wine donut is of limited availability, there’ll always be more donuts from The Doughnut Project and more wine from Cavit to consume on a daily basis. Don’t be upset if you’re unable to get your hands on this specific collab since there’ll always be more collabs to partake in.
