Chrissy Teigen’s first cookbook, “Cravings,” is simply legendary. Sure, none of the recipes will win her a James Beard Award, but her hasselback potatoes, lemony arugula cacio e pepe, chicken pot pie soup, drunken noodles, and anything with cheese will leave you full and looking for your stretchy pants. The only problem is that some of the recipes, like most cookbooks, call for ingredients you don’t have on hand and will probably only use once. But there’s a solution—Blue Apron is teaming up with Chrissy to roll out a series of six meal kits.
Starting June 4, a different dish by Chrissy will be available through Blue Apron each week through July 9, so you won’t have to go grocery shopping for a while. According to a press release, five of the recipes will be based on ones from her first cookbook. They include (in chronological order): Garlic and Soy-Glazed Shrimp with Charred Broccoli and Hot Green Pepper Sauce; Sesame Chicken Noodles with Bok Choy; Chinese Chicken Salad with Crispy Wontons; Chicken Lettuce Cups with Sweet Peppers, Mushrooms, & Jasmine Rice; Chipotle-Lime Chicken Fajitas with Mushrooms, Monterey Jack, and Crema.
The last recipe in the program will come from “Cravings 2”: Pork Banh Mi Sandwiches with Pickled Cucumbers and Carrots. The book is due out in September, so this is very much an appreciated sneak peak.
The meal kits will only be available to Blue Apron customers— those who are signed up for one of their two plans. If you’re a die-hard Chrissy fan (and really, who isn’t?), you’ll want to sign up before June 4 to get in on the new kits. Think of them as one big food pregame to the release of “Cravings 2.” Seriously, more pages of cheesy, roasty recipes can’t get here soon enough.
