Studying for finals is the most nerve-racking time of the semester for any college student. Yes, it not only can make or break students grades but also is a beyond stressful time. Experts suggest drinking water, getting lots of sleep, etc. and, those are all great tips, however, sometimes us college students need to have a little fun in between falling asleep in our large textbooks. Here are 5 creative tips for a less stressful finals season.
1. Color Coding
Color coding is so important. For myself at least, when I create study guides, plan out my planner each year, or make to-do lists, I am constantly color coding and making everything look bright and happy. This technique is also important when using note cards. I love purchasing different colored note cards for each class, so I don’t get confused by different classes material.
2. Spa Night
It is so important to treat yourself once in a while but especially during finals week. I created a spa night that won’t take you more than 30 minutes to feel your best for the next exam. Gather the roomies and create DIY masks. Something just as simple as avocado and coconut oil will hydrate sad/tired skin. Add some cucumbers to your eyes and a hot tea in hand and this spa night is good to go.
I also love teeth whitening. Activated charcoal is amazing and effective. I purchased my capsules at Whole Foods. I massage the powder on my teeth monthly to keep a white smile. This is a great study break and won’t break the college budget.
3. Exercise
Exercising is another great 30-minute break. I know myself and I like to do all my studying at one time with no breaks. But, exercising is a great way to let out stress. Yoga, stretching and meditation are amazing stress relievers before and after tests.
4. A Clean Atmosphere
From experience, a clean room, environment or work- space help you to focus much better. Personally, if I was living in chaos, I wouldn’t be able to be as productive and successful. Make sure to take a couple extra minutes in the morning and tidy up. I promise it will make all the difference in the long run.
5. Plan Out Outfits
Picking out outfits for the entire week on a Sunday is what I do best. I stick to my outfits each day and I get a little more sleep. What is better than that? Especially during finals when college students are living on coffee and no sleep. I promise you won’t regret it.
Once you start, you can’t stop. Now, GO!
