5 Incredible Food Trucks That Will Be at Queen’s Homecoming 2017

There are a lot of things that make Queen’s Homecoming the best: our school spirit, the sea of Tricolour around Kingston, and, of course, the ReUnion Street Festival. Where else can you dance the night away to live music with alumni of all ages?

This year’s festival will be held on Saturday, October 15th at 7PM on Union Street between University and Division.

While the ReUnion Street Festival is sure to leave you with some incredible Homecoming memories, it will also leave you with a growling stomach. Luckily, we have insider information on the five amazing food trucks that will be at the festival this year and what they’ll be serving.

The only thing left to do is decide which of these incredible places you’ll be visiting. Our vote? All of them.

Smokin’ Carnivore

From warm homemade chili to tender, juicy pulled pork, Smokin’ Carnivore will be offering up a wide selection of meals to please even the biggest foodies at the festival. I should know—their rich, beefy poutine fuelled me through last year’s Homecoming.

If you want to get a little more adventurous, keep an eye out for their Golden Gaels butter chicken, which is served with fries or rice and banana chips. Other offerings include applewood smoked turkey drumsticks, falafel, and even salad for the health-conscious people in the crowd.

Rosco’s Grill

If you’re craving something classic, Rosco’s will be offering all of your barbecue favourites including hot dogs, sausages, burgers, and veggie burgers. You can’t go wrong!

If you think you’re going to exercise some self-control and visit Rosco’s another time, keep in mind that they close for the season on Halloween. Get some great barbecue while you can!

Juicy Kik

This small restaurant on King Street is one of Kingston’s hidden gems, but you’re sure to become a loyal customer once you get a taste of their fresh, flavourful food.

Though we don’t have an official menu, you can hope to see some new and innovative versions of healthy favourites such as sandwiches, wraps, salads, buddha bowls, and—of course—their delicious raw organic juices.

Mio Gelato

As the crowd gets bigger and the dancing gets started, you’re bound to heat up. Cool down with a few scoops of everyone’s favourite Kingston gelato.

They’ll be serving up a variety of surprise flavours, and the only way to find out what those flavours are is to visit Mio Gelato’s stand on Saturday night.

BeaverTails

If you want to satisfy your sweet tooth, head over to the BeaverTails truck for one of their iconic pastries. They come smothered in chocolate, peanut butter, cinnamon sugar, maple spread, and several other delicious toppings.

Entry to the festival is free, but there will also be a licensed area accessible to guests over the legal drinking age. Tickets will be sold on site for $15 (cash only).

With a stomach full of food and a heart full of Queen’s spirit, you’re sure to walk away from the ReUnion Street Festival counting down the days until next Homecoming.
