5 Awesome Skincare Products for Sensitive Skin

This article is written by a student writer from the Spoon University at Towson chapter.

I’ve got some crazy sensitive skin, so I’ve had to search high and low, drugstore and high-end, for products that work well and don’t irritate my skin. A lot of skincare products have scents or ingredients that just don’t work for sensitive skin, so here’s a list of awesome products that really do the trick.

1. Neutrogena Oil-Free Moisturizer – Sensitive Skin

This moisturizer is super lightweight and refreshing for the skin, and it’s entirely fragrance free. It’s also, as the name implies, oil free so it won’t leave you looking like a shiny mess or aggravate already oily skin. This product always leaves my skin feeling soft without any worry about a breakout.

2. Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion

I use this fragrance free lotion pretty much every day, any time I’m feeling dry I can just use a pump and I’ll be nice and smooth again. In the past I’ve had really bad dry skin and eczema and this lotion totally cleared up those problems with no further irritation.

3. Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask

Unfortunately I only have a sample size of this mask, but I’ll definitely be buying the full size once I run out because this mask is awesome. Most masks make my skin red and itchy, which is just not a good look, but this one clears my pores and leaves my skin smooth with none of that nonsense. If you’re looking for a more natural mask though you can try out these DIYs.

4. Yes to Cucumbers Soothing Daily Gel Cleanser

Honestly, I picked up this cleanser as an impulse buy because the label is just really appealing and I hoped for the best. Luckily though it turned out to be the best cleanser I’ve ever used, keeping my skin smooth and break out free. The cucumber and green tea scent is really fresh and surprisingly not at all irritating to my skin. Plus, cucumbers are awesome.

5. Simple Protecting Light Moisturizer SPF 15

We started with a moisturizer so why not end with one too? This product is good if you’re going to be outside a lot due to its UV protection, and doesn’t sit on your skin all day like a regular sunscreen would. It’s oil free and full of vitamins so it works well for sensitive skin, the only drawback is that it has a very distinctive sunscreen-y smell, so I guess you’ll be smelling like that one kid in kindergarten. But just cover it up with some perfume and you’re good to go.

So there you have it…

These are the best skincare products for sensitive skin that I’ve found through the totally flawless “try it out and see what happens” method of experimentation. While these products have good reviews and have always worked for me, some may not be the best for every skin type. There are tons of other awesome products out there that work for different people, like these. Always be open, and a little bit cautious, to trying out new products.
