The recent discovery of my new favorite patisserie began with a spontaneous trip to Greensboro with my roommate. As major foodies we wanted to try some cool, new places in Greensboro that we had heard about, so our first stop was Hops Burger Bar, which I 100% recommend, and then we were unbuttoning our jeans and waddling over to Maxie B’s to end the night with a piece of cake.
The First Impression
I was expecting just a regular cake shop, but was pleasantly surprised when we pulled up to an adorable Parisian-themed cafe. Just when I thought it couldn’t get anymore aesthetically pleasing, I walked into a room literally filled with cakes. My childhood dream came true in that moment and I was filled with unadulterated joy that can only come from something food related.
The Moment of Truth
I was a little overwhelmed, in a good way, but TBH having to pick which beautiful cake I was going to get a piece of was probably one of the hardest decisions of my life. Add in the fact that there were also super cute and tasty looking cupcakes and pastries glaring up at me from the display fridge.
I finally made my decision and went with the classic Chocolate on Chocolate cake and can easily say I have #noregrets. (That may also have to do with the fact that I’ve been back several times since and tried various other cakes).
Moral of the story
In addition to their decadent cakes, they also have coffee, specially crafted drinks, and seasonal treats that make guest appearances on their menu. So with their abundance of cakes, cupcakes, and pastries, there’s no reason Maxie B’s shouldn’t find a spot on your bucket list. From one dessert lover to another, I solemnly swear that this is an instance where you can have your cake and definitely eat it too.
